After accepting 25 mil while having a100 million $ endowment laid off all their musicians. Wasn’t the stimulus to insure people people did NOT miss a paycheck. I wouldn’t give them the money since they acted in such bad faith.

Nope. They stated that future layoffs are possible. But no layoffs will occur through Sept as per the terms of the aid.

United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz and President Scott Kirby thanked their 90,000 workers Friday afternoon for pressing lawmakers to pass a $2 trillion stimulus package with $58 billion in funding for beleaguered U.S. airlines, half of it grant aid to cover their payrolls and prevent layoffs through Sept. 30.

That’s not long enough to get the industry out of the woods, the United executives warned. They expect the downturn in travel from the coronavirus pandemic to last well beyond that date, and require painful cuts. “If the recovery is as slow as we fear, it means our airline and our workforce will have to be smaller than it is today,” they said in a letter to staff that was publicly released.

What was the reason for the Kennedy Center receiving the $25 million? To pay their employees who would be eligible for unemployment? If so then the aide is pointless.

Fair point. I don’t think it makes the situation better though if they just wait til October 1.

Two Republican congressmen on Tuesday introduced legislation to reclaim the $25 million allocated in the recent coronavirus stimulus bill to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, as reports emerged Tuesday that the opera house will furlough roughly 60 percent of its full-time administrative staff after already suspending pay for more than 700 part-time employees and musicians.

You probably don't htink it makes the situation better, because you likely aren't one of the UA employees that will now get a paycheck through Sept 30...but maybe you can convince them otherwise

No idea if this if this is accurate but

$300,000,000 for Migrant and Refugee Assistance pg 147
$10,000 per person for student loan bailout
    $100,000,000 to Nasa,
    $20,000,000,000 to the USPS,
$300,000,000 to the Endowment for the Arts
$300,000,000 for the Endowment for the Humanities/ because no one even knew that was a thing
    $15,000,000 for Veterans Employment Training
    $435,000,000 for mental health support
$30,000,000,000 for the Department of Education stabilization fund/ because that will keep people employed
$200,000,000 to Safe Schools Emergency Response to Violence Program
$300,000,000 to Public Broadcasting / NPR
$500,000,000 to Museums and Libraries / Who the hell knows how we are going to use it
$720,000,000 to Social Security Admin / but get this only 200,000,000 is to help people. The rest is for admin costs
$25,000,000 for Cleaning supplies for the Capitol Building / I shit you not it's on page 136

9,000,000 Misc Senate Expenses pg 134
$100,000,000 to Essential Air carriers pg 162 This of note because the Airlines are going to need billions in loans to keep them afloat. $100,000,000 is chump change
$40,000,000,000 goes to the Take Responsibility to Workers and Families Act. This sounds like it's direct payments for workers. Pg 164
$1,000,000,000 Airlines Recycle and Save Program pg 163
$25,000,000 to the FAA for administrative costs pg 165
$492,000,000 to National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak) pg 167
$526,000,000 Grants to Amtrak to remain available if needed through 2021 pg 168 (what are the odds that doesn't go unused)
Hidden on page 174 the Secretary has 7 days to allocate the funds & notify Congress
$25,000,000,000 for Transit Infrastructure pg 169
    $3,000,000 Maritime Administration pg 172
$5,000,000 Salaries and Expensive Office of the Inspector General pg 172
$2,500,000 Public and Indian Housing pg 175
$5,000,000 Community Planning and Development pg 175
    $2,500,000 Office of Housing

All of that said- this bill is 1000% better than the horseshit the GOP passed in 2016.

Just an assumption but the GOP runs 2/3rds of branches that passed it so..

Pretty naive if you think the GOP is any different than the dems.

umm did you forget that this was a bipartisan bill where dems had to be appessed with pork and then held it hostage for more. this was done like this just so the dem side would not hold it up and guess what they still did.

And I'm sure you are completely supportive of individual welfare that could save thousands of lives?

Why did Boeing have to go buy that nice new iphone. They should have a substantial savings account to weather any rough times, right?

As I said in another thread, your political attitudes are as predicable and thin as your sports posts. Just replace calling folks "nitters" to dismiss their opinion with a blanket approval of anything R and disapproval of anything D.

Boeing is a bad example. Its likely they won't even use the aid.

Yes it does it's several months of paychecks without having to join the unemployment ranks. They aren't going to be able to pay them forever if the demand isn't there
