Great athlete but a terrible player. Somehow deluded himself into thinking he has the tools to be a stretch forward. If playing 11 minutes a game as a junior for Ole Miss finally divested him of that notion, he might be worth a flier, but I'd rather not.

College Basketball is dumb now.
If this goes on every season, then what's the point.
Recruit every player every season, and have twitter announcements for every player on what they are going to do.
No thanks.

Yep. Great for the player but horrible, just horrible for fans. Eventually 50% of all players will transfer at least once in their career. From the customer standpoint, there is no investment in any of the players.

I didn’t watch him play much and don’t know the story this year, but he started in ‘19-20 and averaged 9 points and 6 rebounds.

Looks like his 1st year at ole miss he played a ton.
Then this year they cut his minutes by at least half and he seems rather inefficient.
They played another dude instead of him who did much better than him.
Seems he thinks he's something he's not and can't get it out of his head.

Yep, it sucks. Really not a fan of allowing players to transfer w/o sitting out a year.

I think the NCAA is going to have to realize that this alienates its paying customers. Sitting out a year and getting an extra year of free college isnt a bad thing. I hope they go back to the old rule, even eliminating grad transfers without sitting. A kid wants to grad transfer, great, get 2 years of grad school paid for.

It doesn’t alienate anyone
That’s stupid

Well, they refuse to pay them so they are keeping them miserable to a point. I say pay them....but they have to sit a year. This is a business. Make the coaches sit too

They are getting paid essentially by getting a free ride that can cost $40,000 a year or more.

Their customers root for the laundry
Just like every other sport
Stupid

I don't know man. Look at the way that continual roster turnover has destroyed the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL. Once they started allowing players to leave every year to go play somewhere else the popularity of those leagues dwindled to pretty much nothing.

Really?

"NBA viewership for nationally televised broadcasts on TNT, ESPN and ABC through the Martin Luther King Jr. Day tripleheader is up 34% over the comparable 27-game period from last season, an average of 2.0 million per game versus 1.49 million, according to Nielsen Media Research data released by the league on Thursday. "

Dude , they don’t give a damm about education , 85% of these kids are at the school they’re at for only one thing , playing ball . The transfer portal tells you this .

Not to mention, if they were ONLY students at these schools, many would be going for greatly reduced costs anyway due to grants and assistance so its not like they'd be paying $40K-50K per year anyway

Right, their ratings suck so bad that they can pay the players an average of $7 million. I believe what the facts demonstrate.

What’s funny is the ratings were posted. Yet he’s doing what he accuses others of doing and believing whatever he wants. Absolutely brilliant. Never ever imagined when I created a user name years ago this board could be so amusing.

Sorry but I hope they’d be up from the least watched NBA finals of all time in 2020.

And you have to wonder how much the NBA even cares about growth in the U.S. when as a sport their international growth has to be huge.

Comparing MLK Day 2020 (pre-COVID) to MLK Day 2021 ratings is fairly apples to apples.

Looking at some weird, one-off NBA finals that took place in October, after the season was paused for a number of weeks due to COVID and which many viewers tuned out (like me) because of the strange scheduling and conflict with football probably isn't that helpful.

I wouldn’t say it’s apples to apples. 2021 MLK day, way more people working from home due to COVID than 2020. Games are on all day. People have watched everything on Netflix etc so you’re going to put the game on in the background. My 2020 finals admittedly isn’t apples to apples either.
