Kiesel & the 2015 WNBA Draft

Our 1st team All-ACC guard appears in the 1st round of a mock drafts.

Others have her a sure pick, but in either of the later two rounds (mainly concerns relating to strength). Along these lines, she was not among those invited up to Connecticut to attend the draft.

Draft starts at 7 tonight on ESPN2 & ESPN3. Pitt's last WNBA pick was Shavonte Zellous (1st round, 11th overall) back in 2009.

Best of luck to her. Based on her 4.0 GPA recognition with the Pitt academic athletes at halftime of the men's BC game, it would seem she has a strong future either way. It's a shame that the WNBA salaries are so low.

Kiesel goes 13th overall to the Tulsa Shock, whose president is Steve Swetoha, a Pittsburgh guy. A great organization just got a great young lady as part of their family. All the best to Bri!! #H2P!

Not to mention Kathi McConnell-Miller, Pitt Women's Associate Head Coach was an assistant for Tulsa prior to coming to Pitt. Swetoha also worked for the ACC prior to the Shock. Some interesting ACC and Pitt ties to the Tulsa organization (as well as during the organizations time in Detroit, they drafted Shavonte Zellous). Not really surprising she lands there.
