Kiffin accepts Florida Atlantic Head Cosching Job

Not good news for us.

On a side note, why the hell would he even want a dead end HC job like that? Probably pays quite a bit less than Bama or LSU OC.

HCPN hired MC after he was fired and allowed him to open up the offense with total control. That plus a nice raise hopefully will keep him. If MC leaves we will find a good OC.

Long shot but the next best thing for us would be for LSU to hire Sarkisian away from Bama. I just don't believe Bama would be after Canada--but--that could certainly change as these dominoes continue to fall.

Why would anyone think we are screwed? Canada says he is not only interested in money. And if he does go... OK... we find someone else. Oregon's old coach is out there, as are many capable OCs. I think Canada stays.

Not sure why some of you guys don;t understand how critical it is to retain coordinators and top assistant coaches. We are trying to build a program. Continuity is critical in every way. When you have 3 OCs in 3 years, you can't keep progressing. It's hugely disruptive, and it effects everything, including recruiting. Prospects want to know who's going to be coaching their side of the football, whose offense they will be running, what the plan is for them. Players playing with the same playbook, terminology, teaching, technique etc. from year to year is hugely important.

Like I said, if we lose Canada, and there is now a very high likelihood that we do, the next guy will come from within--probably Salem--and the offense will look a whole lot different than it did this season, and not in a good way. Narduzzi isn't going to want to do this dance every year, he can't afford to. He will make a safe--translation lackluster--hire.

Critical?? Hey, I think we are a better team with him, but for crissakes, if a team wants to double a guys salary, and he wants to leave... ok, how is that a Pitt problem??

All we can do is show support for Canada, hope he stays. Even LSU, paid Frank Wilson over one million a year, and the guy still left and became head coach elsewhere.

Sh!t happens. We have to deal with it.

If your prediction comes true about within... how do you think our offense will look a whole lot different than if we brought in a new OC with high regard in the country?

I differ in opinion, I think it will be the same if we hire within, and different if we hire outside.

BBBUUUUTTTT... we havent the need for a new OC yet.

Check the posts after the Nova game. Over half the whiney boys wanted Canada fired. You all sure know one thing. How to whine

Clearly, he wants to go there, cheat his ass off, pull a few upsets, claim he won't leave and the next day after a 10 win season opt for a Power 5 job.

I understand his motives, because I'm as selfish and immoral as he is, :)

Oh I don't disagree, there's only so much we can do in this instance. If LSU really wants Canada, they will get him, that's just the reality of it. What I'm saying is, if we're ever going to be any friggin' good, we have to keep the HC and coordinators in place. This one is largely out of Pitt's control. Changing the offense and playbook every year kills the program';s momentum and breeds uncertainty for recruiting.

the next guy is likely to be a "safe" choice. Narduzzi can't afford to break in a new offense every year.
