Lamonte Wade's trip to Tennessee

So, for anybody that can answer, what is the deal with Clairton players and Tennessee? Does Butch Jones have any connections there? I remember Tyler Boyd flirted with Tennessee some too. Or in the case of Wade, did he have a relationship with Bob Shoop while he was DC at PSU?

Is he thought to be down to just Pitt & Tennessee?
I've heard that a lot of the Clairton players love country music and line dancing.

I lived in Knoxville for 7 years got an undergrad and Masters degree there and it is not a racist town in any sense of the word, Stache where do you get this stuff? You and PHPanther obviously have some axe to grind with Tennessee but calling a town racist when it isn't even remotely that is irresponsible and dumb. If you hate the VOLS fine but don't just make up lies about a great small college town. There are racists everywhere and idiots in every part of this country but to label a whole town as racist is just irresponsible. If you have a beef with Tennessee state it or their coach but just painting a whole town racist is beyond dumb. I bet anyone who makes the trip there in 4 years will find it nothing but a great college town. If you do go down there and start calling the fans rednecks and racists then yes you will probably get a beat down and deservedly so. You won't do that though because you sit behind a keyboard making all sort of wild accusations because you're too scared to do it in person.

Seriously? You are really dumb.

Obviously I meant talk to them since they moved from Knoxville to Pittsburgh. The racism thing is just something I added. It definitely is prevalent there more than anywhere I have ever been.

And... YES!!!! I do think Narduzzi and other coaches are such people of high attention to detail that the people that perform functions for them would make damn sure they get it right. Are you joking???? You think Pitt would have a 5 star recruit and not make sure that simple things like these are taken care of? Of course I dont think the head coach makes the pass itself, that has to be the most ridiculous thing Ive read on here, and there has been a whole lot of ridiculous things

I wonder what is wrong with you. You think it is OK to first of all completely misconstrue a post with your prism of hate and then just make a stupid post like that? Grow up
So you didn't mean what you actually wrote in the first post, you meant something else. And I'm the dumb one for not recognizing that.

I like that.

Maybe if I stare long enough into my "prism of hate" I'll come to understand the deeper meaning behind your words.

Right, but if Wade is that good he will get his chances no matter where he plays. The difference between Pitt and Tennessee may be large in recruiting, but it is not seismic.

Who knows if these guys give a crap if they play on offense or not? For these 4 and 5 stars their only goal is reaching the NFL, they don't care how they do it.
The difference is pretty seismic, actually. Pitt, at least right now, is painfully thin with regards to offensive playmakers and high end talents. UT gets 3-5 Lamont Wades in every class and at least 1 or 2 of them are on offense. Pitt getting offensive snaps for Wade isn't really at the expense of high end guys on offense or similarly talented playmakers who are focused on the defensive side. For UT it would be and that would be pretty difficult to manage.

If anything, I imagine it was because he was dealing with poor and uneducated folks on both sides of the line. Same would be true of any factory in the Pittsburgh area.

I'll guess, yes, Shoop.
I think Boyd was recruited by someone who went to Tenn from Wisc, who was recruiting him there.

Guys, I understand the Franklin hate. That's what in-state competition is all about. But I am personally trying to be careful with so much personal criticism. Despite, what is said about his coaching, his players love him, they play hard for him, they sure haven't quit on him, and they are improving. in addition, I don't know if it's the quality of assistants or what, but their 2nd half adjustments have been excellent. All that even with 7 of 9 scholarship LB's out with injuries. We will see more after OSU crushes them this weekend, but they bounced back from Michigan very well. Anyway, back to Wade. I think the Alabama game results can only help for sure. I also agree that Butch is not a used car salesman, but I still don't think the Vols are the best fit for Wade.

I pretty much feel Narduzzi and Franklin both have their respective programs headed in the right direction.

Expect another good game next season between the two.

Regarding Wade, no idea where he's headed. Hopefully Pitt though.

You have your opinion and I have mine. Totally acceptable. I've lived in 12 different cities around the world and 9 in the USA and there isn't another city that is even remotely close in racism. And I will say I love Tennessee, met my wife there and Gatlinburg is terrific. I have zero axe to grind and really like the area except the racism.

I had an African American secretary and we went to Lunch often and my wife and I went out with her and her husband and we had a ton of comments. And wasn't even the tip of the iceberg. If I hired a black employee over a white employee we would have vadalism to the company and several other things. And I was in an affluent area near turkey creek.

Furthermore, get your facts right. I never labeled the whole town racist, I said it's the most racist town I've even been in. And please, don't be weird. If someone is "going to give me a beatdown" then yeah that will really make me think they aren't rednecks ^rolls eyes^. And I can hold my own if someone wants to try :). Semper fidelis

Hackenburg hated him, past players bashed him all over social media last year and his coaches continue to leave him making lateral moves. Yup, sounds like he's loved at PSU.

Hardly, sure maybe that accounted for half but I worked in oak ridge and Farragut.

Really it's laughable you are trying to relate your experiences into my perspectives. There have been major racial tensions in Knoxville if you want to pretend they are a good ole bunch of good people without a lick of racial tension that's fine, really I can care less about your opinion. Mine was lived, yours is made up. Were there terrific people there?? Absofreakinlutely... No doubt and I have very good friends there and family. I'm also not saying Pittsburgh is Portland of the east either, I'm not. I mean read benard Kings book... Educate yourself

I think saying Knoxville is the most racist town you've ever been in certainly insinuates the whole town is racist. Well sorry you feel that way I loved it had black roommates in school never had one bad experience in that regard or even saw anyone act that way but that stuff happens in every city big small whatever on both sides. How is that being weird you think you start yelling rednecks and racists in Neyland Stadium you won't run into trouble. I'm not getting into a macho contest tough guy marine my thoughts are anyone yelling that stuff deserves a beat down. Ok well we had 2 entirely different experiences in Knoxville we'll just have to agree to disagree but if you look hard enough you'll find racists in every town in this country maybe you just ran into the few in Knoxville. I also lived in Farragut right out past Lovell Road for quite a few years my roommates dated white girls we all went out and never had a comment or issue so we just had different experiences we'll just not agree on this and move on.

I don't have time now to google the exact name but there was a db who played for both O'Brien and Franklin and they asked what was the biggest difference and he said O'Brien treated them like men

It's not a big deal.

Generally speaking, players like playing for James Franklin. Of course there are always some malcontents when there is a coaching change. Rushel Shell and a few others were critical of some of our coaches after a regime change. It happens. Hack and others can whine while Franklin takes the high road

VolPanther, Stache also started the thread about Saban 'slamming' Tennessee in a press conference. The racist stuff is probably just thrown out there because the Vols are recruiting Wade. I highly doubt he even thinks that. I've never heard of anyone characterize K-town as a racist city. I lived in near-by Blount County for years.

why do you have such a pulse on Franklin and the PSU program?

I really don't know anything about Knoxville, but for the life of me I cannot understand why anyone living in the Pgh area would want to go to Tenn. But then I feel the same about State College.

Do we care that shoop left? Tenn is 80th in overall defensive rankings. There also supposedly loaded. Pry is doing a lot more with a lot less than shop had last year. I'm happy he's gone.

As far as hack goes, when coaches change, old players can have some issues with it. He was obriens guy not Franklins.

Cool story bro, but there were a lot of PS players that made comments.

I don't. But the anti-Franklin BS for no valid reason other than he coaches at PSU is easy to refute.

Bernard King's day in Knoxville was 40 years ago. Not really relevant today. FWIW, Benard was an idiot in his college days.

True story, condensed version... Bernard once saw an assistant coach wearing a Rolex during pregame warm-ups. He told the coach that he was refusing to play unless he gave him the watch. Long story short, guess who got a new Rolex?

Was there any mention about his TV theft or time as a transvestite while in Knoxville?

Not to make a racist comment but Wvu is a dark horse in the Wade race but gaining ground.Gotta love Gibby?

Please refute it. Still waiting for you to point out what he did of significance at Vandy. You trot out the nine wins yet it has been demonstrated time and again that was mostly against patsies.

For the closet Nitters trying to rehab Franklin's rep, he is a carnival barking, rape enabling fraud of a coach who has beaten no one of significance anywhere. His 15 minutes are up...

I hear you I never experienced a hint of it in 7 years so he either met the few racists around or sought them out I don't really care if he says he experienced it he did it still doesn't make my top 1000 places I've lived or visited where that would even come to mind. Yes been to Blount county many times I love East Tennessee it's a great place and far from what he describes at least to me. I'll let the folks who make the trip there in 4 years or so decide but I'm guessing they will be treated really nice and made to feel at home and whoever mentioned Bernard King and how that was 40 years ago amen to that there are a lot of things that were norm 40 years ago that aren't any more.

I grew up in Pittsburgh and went to UT to go see something new have experiences and get a different perspective on life. I also was an Ag Student and PSU was not an option obviously. Never visited before I went but loved it for every second I was there and would move back in a second.
