in Michigan--with some interesting analysis that is not specific to Michigan hoops. Very interesting discussion of the effect of AAU basketball on recruiting and H.S. hoops. It's from May but i just came across it. I think it's an interesting read for any college hoop fan and it addresses many topics that have been discussed and debated on this board.

I think what also is a factor is the absolute HORRIBLE graduation rates in inner city High Schools in places like Detroit, Flint and Saginaw. These are in my territory, these are not nice places. Even a town like Saginaw, it is not a good place to travel through at night. Just the streets and lack of any strong parental or adult guidance on these kids are not even giving them a chance.

Detroit usually always has the highest crime rate in America. If HS hoops really is that bad up there, even more impressive what Michigan State has done under Izzo and the resurgence of Michigan hoops recently.
