Last Chance U hoops edition

Just watched a couple episodes. Joe Hampton former PSU 4* is an absolute asshat. Thats it. That's my takeaway so far.
Hampton committed to PSU early, transferred to Oak Hill, decommitted because he wanted a Maryland offer, it didn’t come so he recommitted to PSU, showed up as a freshman way overweight, and transferred a few weeks later.

Just finished watching it. It was good. The coaches are so much better than that loud mouthed goof Jason Brown from the football version.

Love the show. My friend texted me "I bet you hate Joe Hampton don't you" I guess because he went to PSU and Hampton was acting pretty obnoxiously in the first few episodes. I'm about 7-8 in now, and while I can't say that Joe did a total 180, he does get significantly more likeable in the later episodes. He really did a better job both with his effort and his leadership down the line. And he's not joking when he said he can hoop; I thought he was ELAC's best all-around big man by a wide margin.

Great season so far. I got crazy emotional at two different points through episode 7. The entire coaching staff is wonderful. It's been my favorite all-around season of the series so far because the staff really cares and the team is also good enough to make the games compelling to watch.

I have watched the football seasons and I might have to say Hampton might be the biggest crybaby of the whole series. So talented and a total entitled basketcase

No way, that QB from FSU was absolutely the worst (I think his name was Malik?). Didn't work hard, would change plays at the line and then throw a pick and act like he ran the play that the coach called. He was an absolute crybaby and a moral coward.

Hampton is actually a really good player that's always going hard for the team and he becomes a better leader through the season if you keep watching.

Agree. I almost gave up on the series after around the 3rd or 4th but kept watching and glad I did cause the last few episodes were really good. Especially when the players were nearing the end and talking about what it would mean to them and their families to get a D-1 ship. And the coaches put a lot of time and energy into the team and certainly aren't doing it for the money.

Oh yeah Malik whatever was a bigger Dbag in general but something about Hamptons whining made the cheerleader him seem fake to me

I felt that way, too, but after finished the season last night I stand by what I said. I don't think Hampton is a changed person - it takes a lot more than a few weeks to really change - but I was impressed at how he rebounded from his earlier behavior. He was more focused, more team oriented, he didn't throw any tantrums when he got called for a bad foul (and there was one in their final game), he didn't quit on the team when he got frustrated.

I think part of his behavior was just frustration at being so close to his dream yet still having it just outside his reach. That's not an excuse for the tantrums but at the end, he did actually seem to conclude that he wanted the best for the team and worked appropriately toward that. I'm rooting for him.
