Rivals has a complete disregard for their customers. The tone of this board indicates the Topic users outnumber the Thread users. Unfortunately for pittguy5593, I like the Thread view. And so do a very significant number of users. You'd think Rivals would have surveyed their users to see if the change was a problem. I am not a programmer and in fact being 65, probably a little challenged using this new technology. How much more programming would have been needed to keep the Thread view?

Rivals doesn't care. And the silence of Chris Peak makes me think he also doesn't care. I hate the change. Thanks.

hopefully this life altering experience of changing from THREAD VIEW to TOPIC VIEW will make you a stronger person. I'm guessing after the riots and looting subsides, we can come together as 1 VIEW, and not segregate these 2 opposing forces. A great man HAD A DREAM and a VISION to one day have all members of the Lair band together as 1... THIS DAY HAS ARRIVED MY FRIEND!!!! Rejoice and celebrate the new age of anonymous and free message board posting as we find common ground amongst the members.

Why is this still a thing? Seriously? I didn't know there was such a thing as thread view until Rivals. 99% of forums use topic view.

Wow, what a condescending, superior, and generally douchey post. He didn't say it was life altering. He is a customer of a company that discontinued a product that he liked. New Coke wasn't a life altering experience either. But enough people didn't like it and complained that they changed back.

You may like topic view better, I literally couldn't care less. But that doesn't hide the fact that thread view has features that topic view does not have. This new system may be better overall, but taking away the features of thread view that some find useful was not a decision that had to be made. (See Scout's boards.)

For what it's worth, there's really nothing that Peak can do about it (other than have the PantherLair leave the Rivals network).

Nonetheless, I too prefer thread view, but such is life, I guess.

That's just a silly response. So, only things that you have heard of are useful? Many posters have gone into detail describing features of thread view that cannot be duplicated in topic view. You may not use these features, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

I could see all these superior responses if we were trying to force you into thread view. BUT WE AREN'T, as proved by the fact that you didn't even know it existed. We're just asking for a choice. If it is decided that there aren't enough people that used it, or that it is cost-ineffective to continue it, that's fine. But you CAN have the much better features of this new board, with the option to use thread.

Actually it was a joke, but it's not a surprise that you took it the way you did. It's a FREAKING MESSAGE BOARD, if this is too difficult to adapt to, then I feel sorry for that person.. Once again, ITS FREE...

Yeah, and I hate thread view with a passion, it's UGLY and DISORGANIZED. I don't get why anybody would like it?

That kind of "thinking" cracks me up. You don't like it, so you can't see why anyone would. I drive Toyotas, and I don't get why anyone would drive a Chevy!

The unique features of thread view have been described here numerous times, so I'm not going to do it again. If you don't like it, don't use it.

Yes, I know it was a joke...at the OP's expense.

Um, no, I'm a paying customer.

You're the one throwing around phrases like "life altering experience" and "too difficult to adapt to." Project much? It seems like you're the one with the problem. The board is just the way you want it, yet you can't help jumping on those who see value in a different option.

However the board is set up is fine with me.. I'll adapt to whatever rivals sets up.. Life is about change, either change with it or don't... Why complain about something stupid as thread or topic view..

I assume, since you said "I'll adapt", that you think I won't. Don't worry, I'll make out just fine.

Whether you want to admit it or not, functionality has been taken away, whether you used those functions or not.

I guess I'll conclude my contribution to this thread by saying that it is most certainly dumber to complain about complaining, than it is to complain about a loss of functionality.

I've driven nothing but GM cars, including my current Chevy for 25 years, and I always wonder why people talk about them being unrelaible? Mine may have been in the shop, broken down maybe 3 days total since 1990. My wife's Toyota has been way more problematic.

Well now that we have script back--something has to fill the void on Pantherlair and rivals has stepped up to the plate and eliminates thread view.

Did Steve P. Take over at Rivals after leaving Pitt?

I don't drive a Toyota, I was pointing out the absurdity of your argument. I will say that I just got rid of my 09 Traverse, which was an absolute lemon. Although the first year of a new platform is often problematic.

I still have my '08 Equinox, there hasn't been anything wrong with it, other than twice the "check engine" life was stuck on, bt it didn't effect driving the vehicle. You just need to have it off to pass emission tests.

As for the "thread view" I don't mind if they have that option, I just totally hate it. Just IMO.

I said it the day this changeover occurred and I'll say it again - this has brought out the worst in some of you. It's fine that there are those who like topic view! Hooray for you! But to belittle those who don't is childish. I think those who prefer thread view are adjusting, but it doesn't mean they have to like it, and they're just venting.

Please show me where the U.S. Constitution requires you to post on the Lair!!! That's what is so great about this country: CHOICES. If you can't handle the Topic View, then stop posting on this site and Develop your own... Then we can stop by and complain about how your site is set up... This board is free, repeat FREE to use..

That entire post was both irrelevant to the discussion and total nonsense. Please tell me you don't have a Pitt diploma hanging on your wall.

I have to say that I still prefer the old Thread View, but the new version of Topic View is certainly an improvement from the old Topic View.

I would be curious as to why Rivals couldn't make many of the changes they implemented and still retain both views. Giving your audience choices is generally a good thing.

Cruzer

It is convenient that you only focus on the aspects that are no longer available and ignore all the new functions available to enhance the forum experience.

Totally incorrect. I have said in other posts that this new format has a boatload of new features. In fact, above I actually say "this new system may be better overall...". Not once have I ever asked for a return to the old format. I've simply asked for the choice of thread in this format.

Actually, I don't even care that much whether thread is an option or not. I'm more arguing with everyone shouting down the thread users, as they aren't acknowledging that there were aspects of thread that are unavailable in topic. My life won't change much either way.

Think of it this way. Cars are improving all the time. There are features available today that were unimaginable even 10 years ago. But what if they discontinued cup holders, or heated side mirrors. Is the product better? Of course. But are there also useful features that are left out? Yes. I'm simply arguing with people that can't see any use for cupholders or heated side mirrors, whether they use them or not.

This is why we can't recruit. What kid would want to come here knowing there is such dissension among the fan base between thread and topic view. Actually they could give a crap because they are all on Twitter or maybe even moved on to Woo-Woo.

Great post. You echoed my thoughts completely. Personally I also preferred the thread view. I also complained about new coke as well and they changed. A smart company should certainly listen to their customer base imho.

Love that commercial. Most millennials never make eye contact. Or talk.
