It's been a rough season for Pitt - the team and fans, but it seems like the UNC loss has broken quite a few people here and I'm with a lot of you, there has to be some changes in the off-season because right now, Pitt has 0 momentum in anything - not recruiting, not on the offensive side of the ball, and not on the defensive side.
--Narduzzi is still the right guy to lead this program, in my opinion. He's a good guy and a good coach, but he's made mistakes this year and that brings me to my next take.
-- The Shawn Watson and Josh Conklin experience should end. Admit you've made a mistake and move on. I personally liked Conklin when he got here and I thought he'd be a good addition, but the defense hasn't improved and they've struggled to defend any spread team. He's been mediocre at best on the recruiting trail. Like Notre Dame did last season, move on. The offense lost a lot from last season -- I get that excuse week 1, week 2, week 3 -- at some point in this season you can't blame LAST season on your idiotic play-calls. Again -- Move on and hit the reset button.
--Jacob Eason and Kyle Shurmur, get them both to Pitt. Let Eason sit out a year and RS, Shurmur as a grad transfer and boom our problems at QB could be solved for 3 years. I'm dreaming I know, but both are going to transfer and if Narduzzi isn't attempting to get a QB then well we're probably looking for another coach anyways.
--Speaking of Kyle Shurmur, hire Andy Ludwig from Vanderbilt (who will likely be unemployed shortly) and let him recruit the stud QB as a grad transfer. Ludwig was a very good pro style offensive coordinator at Cal and at San Diego State. I can't remember how he did at Wisconsin, but either way boom, I solved 2 problems.
--The last two points are hopes (and dreams), don't @me saying how ridiculous I am that'll never happen. Look I know, I'm well aware that it has a 99.999999% chance of never happening. At some point though, you have to start laughing a little. As a Pitt fan, I recommend laughing because if not you'll be a very sad individual.
--Seriously though, Bob Shoop should be the next defensive coordinator at Pitt. Promote Charlie to AHC and give him a raise and get Shoop in here as fast as possible. The rest of the coaching staff....
--Assistant coaching salaries are usually 2-3 years. I'd expect to see some shake up even outside the coordinators roles.
--UNC was bad, Pitt was worse and Miami and Virginia Tech should end our season with yet another blow. There's no way in my mind Pitt can beat either, but then again 13-9 happened so anything is possible.
--Next season is hopefully better, but if you still have problems with both coordinators, at quarterback, and 0 changes then expect the same result.
On a non football note:
--Let me give you guys a little tip that might save your sanity. Quit tweeting about Pitt basketball. They're bad, don't beat the dead horse and try to move on. I've already prepared myself for that this season and nothing this team or Kevin Stallings can do will surprise me good or bad.
And finally, for those that read all of these ridiculous and meaningless points, I hope you all enjoyed my rant. Hail 2 Pitt.
