it was ok to react as they did early on as there was no data. But it became apparent quickly that hospitals were not being over run and the death rate was going to be far less than they projected. There is no science behind what is being done now in many states. It’s all fear porn

When should we have started reopening? I.e., when did you get bored and start all this repetitive whining?

And Biden blames trump for every one of the deaths as do many of his followers blame trump.

The CDC estimates the death rate from COVID-19 for those under 50 is 1 in 5,000 for those with symptoms, which would be 1 in 6,725 overall, but again, almost all those who die have specific comorbidities or underlying conditions. Those without them are more likely to die in a car accident. And schoolchildren, whose lives, mental health, and education we are destroying, are more likely to get struck by lightning.

Yeah I think that we will probably look at this shutdown as one of the biggest blunders in US history.

Over 65000 people die from the flu with a vaccine without padding the death count for people who were suspected of having the flu

That was pretty random. Not sure what that has to do with Covid death rates. But hey I’ll play along who knew black and Hispanic citizens were racist as they overwhelmingly support enforcing immigration laws and are against illegal immigration. Must be the Trump affect

We should have opened up when the first healthcare worker was laid off for lack of work...
uh, the death rate is still 0.3% whether stuff is opened or not..

So now in the final analysis and after all of the damage to the economy and, more importantly, to people's lives and well being has been done, we now find that wearing masks, social distancing, and all of the other overreactions we've had to endure for some virus that doesn't kill as many people as auto accidents in a year is essentially useless and doesn't matter. It seems to be this was all manufactured by the leftist media and their buddies in the Dem/socialist party. They're the ones sensationalizing this every day non-stop.

except.....the cdc data has already beem documented to be horrible.

so you dont think there are 10's of thousands if not 100's of thoisands unreported cases never tested? i find that hard to believe. i dont accept the cdc rate you listed. there have been too many other caluclations that show otherwise.

"We destroyed our entire country and suspended democracy all for a lie, and these people perpetrated the unscientific degree of panic. Will they ever admit the grave consequences of their error?"

This is the central point stated at the conclusion of the article. We did this all for a 0.04% death rate overall. And the REAL death rate is probably lower than that. The total lack of science and the overabundance of lies by the WHO and previously by the CDC is alarming, all because they didn't know what they were talking about or doing. How can we believe anything we see or hear in the media or from these "experts" about the Wuhan flu?

Pretty promising trends. I mean, if I post something positive, does this make me a Trumpocrat? Or just some dude posting some good news?

Cons and libs on this board would be saying the opposite of what they're saying now.

Even now, how quickly we should open up is definitely debatable. The fact we can open up more and not overwhelm the health care system is known, and has been known for quite some time.

So again you prove you have no idea what you're talking about.

#1. The flu is only confirmed for 3-4,000 deaths per year. The rest of them are "estimated" deaths based on a formula involving hospitalizations, percentage of hospitalizations that are tested for the flu, etc.

#2. The total confirmed cases of influenza (not deaths) per year in the US is usually only in the 20-40,000 range. Take 2008-2009 as an example, only 43,677 confirmed cases of Influenza A, but estimated 1.8-5.7 million cases.

#3.The estimated number of deaths from the flu has surpassed 55,000 once in the last 45 years. The average is in the 26,-35,000 range.

How many Chinese virus deaths are only logged at Chinese virus but actually something else.
Man died of alcohol poisoning and was labeled Chinese virus. There are benefits to say deaths are Chinese virus. Hopefully we get honest numbers, no numbers that have financial benefits for hospitals. Or political points.

How many COvid deaths were actually confirmed by testing?

So the flu Death rate isn't really known......its an estimate.....both numerator and the denominator. Therefore the estimated total cases for COVID should be used and compared to the estimates for the flu in which case the apples to apples comparison indicated the death rates are quite comparable.
