LSU's top choice per an inside source, and they intend to get very serious about bringing him to Baton Rouge.

Not looking good for keeping him at Pitt. 3 OCs in 3 years (4 if you count PC) is a road to nowhere.

This is just the reality of where the Pitt football program sits in the college football hierarchy--and it isn't pretty.

the rest of our lifetime, chances are we will not be able to compete with the likes of LSU, OSU and like. Its the reality of the situation.

Now, if we lose our OC to Boston College, its a different story. That would be on the Admin.

Yes, we've had 3 OCs in three years. Who cares? Canada was able to do great things in year one. I don't see why someone else can't do the same IF Canada were to leave. As for the other two...Rudolph left with the former regime and Chaney left at least in part because he wasn't a good fit w/ HCPN. It would suck to lose our OC but there is certainly no shame in losing an OC to LSU.

If people want to make a difference, then they need to financially support the program. Otherwise, this is what is going to be. Pretty simple.

Canada has done a terrific job. Obviously, we'd love to keep him, but if LSU wants to throw stupid money at Canada, then we'll find someone else. My only word of caution to Canada is that when you take the really big money, you get really big expectations along with it. One bad year and your butt is on the hot seat.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Yes. But the money gets to a ridiculous point where even upper-tier ACC teams wouldn't be able to keep up. 1.5 mil plus for Canada is very steep and would probably also require a significant bump in HCPN's pay. I say offer to double his salary to 1.2 mil. If he goes, so be it...they would have made a very good effort to keep him.

1.5 Million per year would make him the highest paid OC, ALL TIME

Pitt as a university has plenty of money to be competitive

The old Scrooge McDuck theory of how a university operates.

He will probably be the highest OC ever when this is all settled, apparently Pitt offer to Canada will make him of of the top Paid OC in the country with their new offer, will he take it who knows

This program will never get beyond where it is now if it has to keep changing coordinators every year or two. It's not plug and play. And it effects everything, including recruiting. They want to know who they are going to be playing for when they commit to a program/offense/defense.

Pitt will never go dollar for dollar with these football factories. PSU paid out roughly $100 million for their football scandal and still are paying Franklin top 10 coach money. Can you imagine Pitt ever throwing that much money into their sports programs? Until we do the football factories will continue to poach our coaches (Georgia last year and possibly LSU this year).
