Laundry now has us as one of the last 4 byes

Seriously though, you have to wonder if he does get inside info each night/AM from the committee because they way he is moving Pitt around makes no sense.

It reminds me of when Turing broke the German code in WW2 but had to be careful how he used the info so as not to let the Germans know the code had been broken. So Lunardi has to be accurate to stay relevant but can't be so accurate that it raises questions.

So Vanderbilt jumps Pitt yesterday after neither play, now Pitt jumps several spots while Vanderbilt falls out of the bracket.

I'm pretty convinced he's just driving traffic and will drop a really solid, reasonable bracket about an hour or two before the selection show

I think that's about where Pitt should be, BTW. Somewhere in the 9 seed range (meaning a low 8 or high 10 seem reasonable as well).

His latest tweet onto ESPN, FWIW:

For me, the bubble has settled on 3 middling majors (So Carolina, Michigan, Vandy) and 2 top mids (Monmouth, St Mary). 5 teams for 3 spots.

Jerry palm doesn't even have us on the bubble anymore.

BTW...I think somehow Syracuse still gets in. If Michigan loses today, I could see Cuse getting in over them.

Did Lunardi ever give a reason for his sudden change other than a tweet saying "feeling better about Pitt."

This might be one of the best posts ever on this board! LOL.

I dunno.....I really don't think moving Pitt around drives the traffic. I do think it is too fluid to have hour by hour updates because you either change things for changes sake or you don't change then the update makes no sense.

I don't necessarily think it's Pitt-based. He's just moving teams near the bottom in and out of the bracket all willy nilly, which I think generates interest because people see movement and want to see if their team's been impacted. I think Pitt being moved around like that is just a function of being in that seed range, not because Pitt specifically drives the traffic. The mid-majors, Vandy, Michigan, and Cuse seem to be what everybody is super curious about.

If LSU does not win their tourney...I see them going to Dayton.

Not deserved. ....but the committee will try to showcase Ben simmons

0% chance if they lose today, maybe a 1% chance with a loss in the finals.

Teams with an RPI in the 90s have no shot.

What's the highest RPI ever for an at large team? Wasn't it Alabama the year they got in with a record of something like 18-13 and an RPI in the high 60s? A team in the 90s isn't even going to be considered.
I think I read somewhere that it was USC one year with an RPI of maybe 67 (or was it even higher)?

Wish GW wouldn't have blown that huge lead yesterday. I was looking forward to hearing Lunardi sweat it out talking about whether his St Joseph's team had fallen to the bubble.

The committee never has done anything like this, and likely never will. This is a perception of something that does not happen.

Did it with NC State if I'm not mistaken. No one had them in and because of their star player they were a 12 seed I believe.

You are mistaken. Everyone either had them between the last two in and last two out.

They were the perfect definition of a bubble team, and their making the tournament had absolutely, positively nothing to do with TJ Warren.

But you have just done a very good job of proving my point about this becomes what people perceptions are, and the perceptions are not the facts.

Am I going blind, or does he have us listed as a 'Last Four Bye', but not actually in the bracket?

NC St's RPI wasn't in the 90s. LSU would have been close to thirty (30!) spots higher than any other at large taken.

They weren't even in the conversation. GaTech, VaTech were ahead of them.

I'm with you on Syracuse. I know they lost to an absolute horrible St John's team but they did win AT Duke. I don't think anyone else on the bubble has a win like that although I could be mistaken. All bubble teams have lousy losses but a win at Duke would stand out to me at least.
