I'll start by saying that I'll take 5-2. I don't care if it's ugly. Ask Wisky fans if they would take an ugly road win yesterday. A win is a win. I'll always take it on the road and in conference.
- This was a weird game, especially for the QB. We had Pickett throw his customary should have been intercepted bad read ball. And really, if he's going to keep running out of the pocket one way and throwing across the field the other way, he's going to have a lot more. I really love his toughness though. Guys will play their butts off for a kid like that.
- I felt bad for the Cuse QBs. They were abused physically all game.
- Well hello AJ Davis! That was some hard running and nice game for him with 6 yards a carry. I think we are seeing the run blocking improve and pass blocking take a bit of a step back with Kradel in there.
- I don't like Vincent Davis in there for a clock killing drive. Needs to be aware ball security is what matters there above all.
- The officials were once again atrocious. I need someone to tell me how the QB is tackled in bounds and they call the ball dead. On the Vincent Davis "fumble' the ref came in, had no idea what was going on, and then declared Cuse ball. That's kind of a big spot. Maybe huddle up and ask instead of forcing an overturn on replay.
- Good Ffrench - great plays as a receiver including the back shoulder throw before halftime.
- Bad Ffrench - can we get someone to just stand back call fair catch every punt? No one can move the ball on our defense, the only thing that can kill us is a short field. We also don't need him getting hurt with little depth on WR chart.
- Great game by Hamlin. He seemed to be everywhere.
- 9 sacks by the D including 10 players sharing in the wealth.
- Welcome back Mr. Kessman. With 2 more makes, he's up to 57% on the year. It's not great but he's hit his last 4.
- I HATE the all out blitz that lead to the long TD. Our pass rush got home all night. There is no reason to risk exactly what happened.
- I'm not sure why we are national title contenders in the first half and little sister of the poor in the second half. Second straight game where I thought we were a TD away from ending the game.
- We have a really big opportunity next week to beat a Miami team that is ripe for the taking. They have a ton of talent but lacking in heart. This win would also make bowl eligible the earliest in a season since 2015 (I almost forgot Narduzzi's first year started out 6-1).
- I don't care much about the rankings even though it would be nice. Iowa is ranked 23rd having beaten college powers Miami (OH), Rutgers, ISU, Middle Tennesee, and Purdue. This has more to do with where you started the year ranked and IF you won OOC games, now who you won them against.
