I didn't think I could enjoy a game more this year than the win at Cuse. Well, I was wrong. From the very beginning the boys took it to Duke and barely let them sniff their lead the rest of the way. Here are my thoughts:
- I've been on J-Rob a lot this year but he's been really good lately and is going out a winner. I think what I'll miss most is my fear for the ball handlers when he isn't on the floor. Thank you for playing hard every game in your career James.
- I liked what Maia showed yesterday. While he should NEVER be fed in the post, he had that incredible assist to Young for the dunk over the fronting D.
- Funny what happens when your two stars only turn the ball over 3 times.
- On top of how big we won by was how we won. A lot of good timing passes for dunks and open shots. It reminded me of the old Pitt.
- Chris Jones quietly had a REALLY good game yesterday. He had more than half the total of offensive rebounds that Duke pulled down.
- I said before, I'll say it again...the team has an identity and it's rebounding. They won the rebounding battle by almost 2-1 and in an even higher ratio on the offensive glass.
- Ryan Luther - anyone not love this kid yet? 10 points on 4/5 shooting.
- How many Plumlee's are there?
- Grayson Allen - I didn't think he had a great game but somehow still ended up with 22 points. He is going to be a pain the next 2 years.
- I think yesterday we saw why this upcoming NBA draft is considered very shallow after Ben Simmons. Brandon Ingram is the consensus #2 player and that wasn't a kid i want to build around. He has a lot of skill but he's way too skinny and would get pushed around in the league.
- We are 7th in the ACC standings as of this morning with L'ville ineligible for the ACC tourney. If we win these next two games we will have a head of steam winning 5 of the last 6 going in.
