This was the first game I was able to watch this year. I wasn't super impressed in the first half but the second half was quite a show. Some thoughts:
- WTF was this place they were playing in? It looked like there were maybe room for 1,000 people in the stands. Didn't seem to bother us.
- I know we always joke about halftime adjustments but Capel and the staff clearly saw something because we found wide open man after wide open man under the basket for about 6 straight points to start the second half.
- GDG is just never going to be big or tough enough to bang at this level. He gets abused and moved out of the way constantly. He's still a valuable rotation piece but he's really only going to contribute if his outside shot is falling.
- Corhen is exactly what we needed to upgrade from Federiko. What a combo with Lowe.
- Speaking of Lowe holy crap. The stats were wild but the vision is next level. So many times he threw the "soccer" pass where it wasn't to an open guy but in stride when a guy was about to be open. 22-8-6. He was great on defense too.
- Leggett reminds me a really good safety who is jumping passing lanes. Such a great player to watch.
- Dunn - hard to evaluate but I'll take everyone's word that he's good.
- Austin is possibly going to be 6th man of the year in the ACC. He just jumps out of the gym.
- Not a great shooting night for Cummings but he doesn't lack for confidence. You can see why the team thinks he's going to be a star.
- This is a good resume building win. When you play against the power conferences, it's important to get a win. It'll be the only way to look back at tournament time and compare.
- Big time chance to get into the top 25 this weekend if we can beat Wisky, at team that beat Arizona by 15.
