LBJ - 16 Points Away

Man. It’s a shame the Lakers lost. Team is so bad.

But hats off to LeBron. No active player has a prayer of breaking the new scoring record.

It’s one of those records that will take so long for anyone to match simply by staying healthy and playing enough seasons. Seems impossible with load management etc anyone comes close until we are old men or dead

Great ceremony! I don’t get the LeBron hate. Great player, great man.

Certain TV people who reside inside a closed information loops deem him to a "bad guy" for no factual reasons so others parrot their nonsense without thinking for themselve. It's sad because of all the public information on LeBron, he seems to be a model of American excellence.

Yeah you wonder where he finishes his career. It can’t be on this woeful Lakers team.

I don’t know. Luka? Probably won’t have the endurance but there are some real high volume young scorers out there.

Luka has the PPG to do it, but the guy comes back every season fat and out of shape. I don’t see him having the longevity.

Yeah it’s really hard to have a 20 year career. But to stay relatively healthy throughout is ever harder. Yes Lebron works very hard to maintain his abilities as he reaches 40. But there is a big luck factor as well to avoid major knee, back injuries that can really slow down an older player. Kobe probably has a few more great years if he doesn’t rupture his Achilles in 2013.

I think he's the second best player ever and not a bad guy. I do believe he has made many inaccurate political statements in his career that rub people the wrong way.

I must have missed those "many inaccurate political statements". Don't recall that being a common narrative regarding LeBron.

Yeah it's part of the entire picture for Lebron. All time great bball player, passionate about social issues, fairly often mistaken, hypocritical, and sometimes dangerous with political statements.

Yeah I mean I’m sure the politics are out there but I just watch the games. I don’t get into all of the off the court/field stuff unless it starts impacting their play (like Kyrie Irving and his suspensions).

Fairly often mistaken based on what...your political philosophies/ideologies?

I don’t care much for Lebron but kudos to him. Now if we can just get rid of Aaron Rogers then the world would be okay

I mean, there is the time he doxxed a police officer, posted his picture on his twitter and said “YOU’RE NEXT. #ACCOUNTABILITY., after the police officer shot and killed a perpetrator who was a second away from taking the life of a young black girl. If Lebron had his way, the heroic officer would have been shot and killed next. Or maybe he wanted the young innocent girl to die?

No way to spin that one.

The National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) responded to James’ tweet by writing: “[LeBron James], with his vast resources & influence, should educate himself and, frankly, has a responsibility to do so, on the facts before weighing in. This is disgraceful & extremely reckless. The officer saved a young girl’s life. No amount of gaslighting will change that fact.”

Yeah this was the worst one from LeBron in my opinion. Very dangerous. To his credit I believe he eventually took the tweet down.

I happen to be a person who has seen some of the good that Lebron does, as I have had ties to the Akron area. He is to be commended.

But that also doesn’t exonerate him from taking the wrong position or being misguided on some things due to his politics.

Can’t y’all just talk about hoops?
Remember a month or two ago when in a news conference, all the reporters we’re just asking Lebron questions about hoops, and then he chastised all the reporters because not one of them asked him one question about a social justice issue that happened on the other side of the country? It seems that Lebron doesn’t want left to just basketball. This is what he created. So when his name is mentioned, these are the conversations that follow.

He and Tom Brady have a lot in common in that respect. Health is part of it. Heck, Alex Ovechkin is another one. Barely was ever injured. Gretzky too.

With greatness comes great health sometimes.

Or yinz just can’t help but bring up politics in a thread about a scoring record. 🤷‍♂️

ETA: Not singling you out. Many culprits here.

I do not like the guy because he is a grade a douchebag, but isn’t Jagr still playing hockey somewhere and he’s 50?

I’d say 100% of the negative comments regarding LeBron are based on his politics and I guess I think that’s fair. He is using his fame to promote a social agenda. What seems wrong to me is to categorize people who think different than you about one issue or another as a douchebag or similar based on this difference. Everything doesn’t need to be 100% polarized and grownups should be able to have have legitimate conversations around these differences without such decisiveness.

Again, I think the reason why others brought it up is because it’s a big part of who he is. The same would probably happen with someone like Steve Kerr based on his political activism. In any event, I felt inclined to also mention that the guy does alot of good. But he is a lightening rod.
