If Pickett isn’t healthy, then he shouldn’t be playing.
If he plays next week... Miami brings max pressure until he is no longer playing. 1 quarter would be my guess.
This isn’t fantasy football. You just don’t do that to a guy who doesn’t deserve to be benched. And what is Pitt getting ready for next year exactly. This is a 7-5 program so let’s make sure we get to that this year at the very least.
If Pickett isn't healthy, he shouldn't be playing. He shouldn't have finished the game if he couldn't run, it wasn't really worth it. Give him a week or two to get to 100% and play Yellen in the meantime ... and who knows maybe Yellen pulls a Justin Herbert.
I also couldn't figure out why a hobbled Pickett was a better option than Yellen.
Maybe 75% Pickett is a better QB than 100% Yellen, we don't know I guess I'll give the coaches the benefit of the doubt. But the schedule this year is such a murderer's row, if the goal is really to compete for a spot in the ACC championship game, you are better off keeping Pickett as healthy as possible for the long run. I didn't watch Louisville last night, but the final score wasn't pretty. I would not be shocked if part of the reason for their poor performance is that their QB is still feeling the effects from us knocking him around.
I know he got us in the end zone, but I didn't like seeing an injured Pickett out there. Seemed senseless to risk further injury.
Pickett will be back next year and the hope is that he will flourish under a new OC
Whipple’s play calling has been absolutely horrendous, there’s no way around that. But either he has been extremely beneficial to Pickett, or Kenny just simply improved with experience.
Even if it’s only the latter, I still don’t think Kenny would’ve ever reached this level consistently under Watson. There’s terrible playcalling, and then there’s Watson’s playbook where every single play was set up for Pickett to fail.
Whipple has been able to get receivers open.
Watson played the game on a quarter of the field. No one was ever open.
Anyone that blames Pickett for the failures this year is a level below stupid.
Yep. I like Whipple’s philosophy and he’s had a lot of good game plans. Even in some of our failures last year he made some great calls that just didn’t get executed.
It’s really just his situational play calling this season. I don’t know what’s happened all of a sudden. I’ll gladly take Whipple over Watson, I think he was a really good hire too. But his playcalling the past 2 weeks has been a major factor in those 2 losses.
I think his offensive scheme is fine.
Too bad he doesn't know how to utilize it.
Overall play calling, but particularly red zone and short yardage play calling have sucked from day one.
He also doesn't trust Kenny enough to truly turn him loose.

Huh? Seems to me to be a rare occurrence when our receivers are open. Usually we need a tough, contested catch.
Do you really see this team winning 4 more games this year with the remaining schedule??
They’d have to win 3 regular season games, and then beat a MAC type team in the bowl game for that to happen. My answer is no.
The odds would say they would be pretty big favorites to win at least one more game this year.

Some of us I guess have been conditioned to expect little to nothing. I don’t blame anyone for feeling like that.

With our Oline being as bad as I have ever seen. Next year it will be worse lol.
Yellen has ZERO MOBILITY. With how bad the line is Yellen will get killed.

The kid is only the entire team right now, we get blasted by two average teams without him. Gonna be a lot more losing when he’s gone.
Pickettt is not always the best decisions maker when it comes to passing but this offense would see a bit more success if they play more to some of Pickett’s other strengths. Let him run more. I’m not sure Kenny ever got less than 8 yards when when he faked the hand off. He is very good at it and every defense bites.
My thoughts exactly. This team isn’t winning 7 games with this year’s schedule. But under normal circumstances they’re a 7-5 team, same as usual.
No way Miami's front 7 gets any sleep this week with the thought of playing against our OL .... Like a kid on Xmass eve!
Kenny is the only reason we have an offense
Fortunately, we have COVID and fans can't even go to games. So this season, at least for me, doesn't exist. Sad.
Maybe Yellen will get rid of the ball. Pickett doesn't wait long until he rolls out and rarely steps and throws to a WR in stride.
Are the multiple illegal shift/illegal formation penalties we get every game the fault of Whipple? Or is it just that our players are not smart enough to know what they are being asked to do pre-snap? I don't know where to put the blame, but it needs to stop.
