Certainly letting the kids learn from their mistakes is a philosophy, but having watched Dixon who was accused of being a micromanager, which do you prefer?

Stallings will end his tenure here with 182 timeouts in his pockets. At least we see the "use it or lose it" TO in the first half.

What led to the loss of the lead was a move made early in the first half. The wholesale substitutions (even though I thought Sampson George and Monty Boykins actually played well in the first half) was a mistake. Only putting the walkons in the game at the 12 minute mark of the first half would have sent a more clear signal that Stallings thought the game was over. Hell even after the game he called Del St. an "inferior team", who does that?

On a positive note, I really liked the way our bench was cheering every defensive play made in front of them holding Del St to two buckets for the longest time. The second half showed that any team can catch up if you trade zero points for three points in 6 possessions out of 8. A timeout in which it was made clear that anybody taking a shot beyond six feet from the hoop would be benched was badly needed. Stallings complaining about our bigs not performing is bs, drive and dish, run a pick and roll, force feed the bigs and crash the boards---do something different.

Stallings looked confused, how could you expect him to call a time out.

Huge fan of not calling timeouts. Especially with this young team, let them learn how to react to adversity and play through tough stretches. Even if it loses us a game, it could pay off if we are in the tournament in 2 years and our guys can play without being micromanaged.

Dixon was so good at micromanaging and calculating and working every button to have a good regular season and win Big East games. Then when it came time for the tourney when its more about the players and talent, we continually came out tight and fell short.

Agree - felt the team substitution sent the wrong message - also felt he should have called a timeout in their run

Ahhhh, good, the old “Jamie was too controlling” line.

I find it much more entertaining to watch the other team go on 18-2 runs and not call timeouts.
