There’s been a lot of discussion about potential transfers, but who have we been going after as part of the 2021 high school class?

I know Efton Reid is “the big one,” but what about after him? 247 lists PG TyTy Washington and C Jonas Aidoo as potential targets. I’m assuming there’s other names? Anyone more likely to commit than others? Could any of them contribute right away?

I’m not as up-to-date on recruiting as others are, so I’m trying to figure things out. Looking forward to what happens over the next few months. Thanks and H2P.

Two main ones seem to be:

Jaylen Blakes - PG in NJ - Not much on him recently, but hopefully Pitt.
Nate Santos - SF in CT - Supposedly deciding soon.

Might be the only HS guys Pitt is recruiting and/or get actually. Transfers for the other spots. I'm sure more names will appear.

Thanks, I think those names sound familiar but for some reason they weren’t listed. Those two and Reid would make for a phenomenal class. Santos has a nice offer sheet for a three star.

Washington is probably going to Auburn or some other bag dropper school. Aidoo is a top 5 center prospect who was likely headed to UNC until Roy retired, but unless Capel hires Wojo he isn't coming here plus they're already all in on Reid.

Yeah I think it’s Reid / Santos / Blakes based on timeline I like our shot at Gardner especially since he would have 2 years left then they close on a transfer PG.

Those 3 put us #22 in the nation for the 2021 Class.
Right where we were last year IIRC. If we can pull them in and land a transfer (Gardner?), I’d feel much better heading into next season. Of course, that’d also rely on Champagnie and Hugely returning.

That would be pretty ideal.
I have and have had faith in our staff’s plan. They have done a great job getting talent here other than bigs if you discount Hugley since they have arrived.

keeping and meshing the talent is a different conversation. I think that changes next year too.

If Capel pulls that off, then we should all be ecstatic. That is asking for a whole lot of dominoes to fall.

While in 99/100 cases the kids going to pick Duke over Pitt ( maybe 999/1000 ! ) it does however show you that JC is an astute judgment of talent . This isn’t the first kid he’s been in on early to only have a blue blood come in late on . The sad reality is that regardless of whose the coach at Pitt convincing a kid he’s better off at Pitt than a Duke , UNC or Louisville etc isn’t a hard sell it’s virtually impossible.

Bro-this kid was a high 4 star with a shit ton of major offers before Duke came in on him a couple weeks ago. He was hardly under the radar.

There’s major offers and then there’s offers from the likes of Duke. Unfortunately other major offers are too much for Pitt to overcome .
