The Plays option (play-by-play) is really good as it includes who got the tackle on every play, and if a player got a QB Hurry on D (even if the pass was complete).

On the first drive, Weah already has 1 more catch and 13 more yards than all of last year.

EDIT: 1 minute into 2nd quarter (so that's 13 minutes into the game), and the box score makes it clear that our D is being very aggressive at the line of scrimmage: 12 carries for 12 yards (before QHenderson's 23-yard end around), 1 sack, 4 TFL's, and 5 QB Hurries.

-Gold Team has 3 first downs so far in the first half for a total of 50 yards.

-Blue team, 237 yards of first half offense to gold team 50. Gold Team has 3 first downs in the first half. Gold team is averaging .8 yards per carry. The Gold Team didnt show up this game so far.

The Gold Team didnt show up this game so far.

Main players on Gold team
QB: Peterman (5/12, 42 yds)
RB: Moss (5 for 20 yds)
TE: Orndoff (2 for 21 yds)
WR: Weah (1 for 13 yds)

I don't know who they have on the line, but it seems like they should be able to move the ball more. Part of the issue is that Blue's D has absolutely brought it (again, not knowing who Gold's OL are): 6 QB hurries, 2 sacks, 3 TFL. Dom Cuono and Matt Galambos have really shown up from Blue's LB corps. Hendrix and Whitehead have been really active on D for Gold.

EDIT: 3rd quarter just started while I was posting this, and Gold went right down the field and scored, primarily due to a 42-yard pass to Weah and 13-yard TD pass to Orndoff.

-Quadree Henderson is the best player in this game so far. Three runs for 9, 23, and 64 yards with a TD. 2 Kick returns for 51 yards. Most explosive player by far.

-Henderson another big run for 11 yards. Has almost 200 total yards of offense.

-I dont get Darrin Hall and the love he gets. He wasn't that good last year, and he is the 4th best tailback in this game. And he has the most carries by far. I get that it is a scrimmage, but he isn't that great. Why keep feeding him the ball, I dont get it.

Blue's D terrorized Gold at the line and in the backfield: 13 rushing yds on 17 attempts, long rush of 7 yds, 2 sacks, 3 TFL, 6 QB hurries -- all despite Jarrett, Hendrix, and Whitehead playing for Gold D.

This made me wonder about the OL's for Gold. Looking at the pics of the game, I think the following OL were the key OL playing in the game (most shots of OL were after the snap, so these are some best guesses in some cases):

Gold:
LT 59 Pilato
LG 53 Dorian Johnson
C 76 Dintino
RG 62 John Guy
RT (Did Jones-Smith play?, if so then he was Gold's RT)
55 Jones-Smith (only pic was of him on sideline)
72 Baker (I only saw him on the field in a ST pic)

Blue:
LT 69 Bisnowaty
LG 60 Reese
C 78 Bookser (some pics make him look like RG, so maybe Officer snapped it all game)
RG 66 Herndon
RT 70 O'Neill (didn't see him in any pics, but he was the #1 pick so I'm assuming he was the RT)
63 Alex Officer -- didn't see him in any pics, but maybe he played at C and others were pushed over

JJ Smith did not play and I saw Grimm standing on the sidelines in full uniform, but did not see him in the game during the 1st half. Bookser did not snap the ball well in the shotgun. He needs a lot of work.

Thought the game was pretty disappointing. Looked like a bunch of very ordinary football players.

What I found most troubling was how sloppy the teams played on offense - lots of penalties for false starts plus a couple of fumbles in the backfield. Offense was not crisp at all. None of the QBs looked very good to my eye.

First half they kept trying to get the ball to Weah. He was covered well on most plays and held badly on at least one that I saw. Weah did not look good at all in the first half - he did make a couple of catches in the second half. But he got no separation and he struggled getting off the line. Don't know if you credit our DBs for the good job or what... I'd say Weah still has a long way to go before he's anywhere near a dependable WR.

Henderson has speed and looked good on the end-arounds. Orndoff made some nice catches. Davidson showed up on offense. Ford made some catches. Not much else going on.

Only pass play where Peterman impressed me was the TD throw to Orndoff. He was decisive there and put the ball on the money with some zip on it.

I was impressed by the play on defense of E. Zeise at LB. He made a lot of nice tackles. Stuck his nose in and played tough.

We need to find a couple of players out of the incoming freshmen...

Also disappointing that Coach Duzz didn't address the crowd, say some words about the team, and thank the Pitt fans for their support. Oh well. Pitt still doesn't seem to get that they need to work harder -- and take advantage of every opportunity -- to generate good will and fan support.

Go Pitt.

This is what a Spring game is all about, finding out who can perform in a game situation. As the starters are split among both teams I don't worry about mistakes right now but a few players looked good and some others need seasoning.

What a great day weather wise to be at Heinz. I was wondering how many of the shaved head crowd got sunburn, my nose is very red.

anybody that takes anything away from a spring scrimmage is a fool and I dare someone to debate me on that....
well now that is going to far.. I agree, take it with a grain of salt but let's not act like it's meaningless.. I am very happy with the good reports and the Conway award won by Weah, ditto with soto. Both players, i'll be honest, I pretty much wrote off. This makes me believe that these two will be very much in the mix.. I am not saying it means they will be stars but they had very good springs.. Regarding the game, well it is a glorified practice. some players have very good practices that no one sees and some have a very good practice that just happens to be in front of a crowd..

What is frustrating is when you try and guage the offensive sets, the new schemes in a spring game as to what you will see in fall. That's the mistake I've made countless times.. The staff is gonna be extremely "vanilla" in this, no sexy formations on either side of the ball. It's not like we learned a whole lot about what is to come with Canada's offense with this game and honestly, that's probably a good thing..

Well at least you get that the whole game was vanilla and there isn't alot of anything to take away from it.......but then you have people bitching saying the offense sucks, when it is damn near impossible to succeed in the offense when there isn't more than maybe 5-8 sets the whole game with no wrinkles or adjustments...

Darrin Hall was coming off an ACL injury his senior year of high school.....maybe he shoudn't have played last year, but his is a damn good back....you cannot judge him off of last year

I don't know, Duzz sent letters to everybody practically begging you to go.
I feel basically the same after every pitt spring 'game', but agree after seeing them, its a wonder they won 8 games last year.
Still gonna come down to the d, Peterman. Of course, Conner the wildcard.

I love the notion that Henderson is gonna be great because he had a nice reverse, because the end around and reverse will be such a staple of our offensive game plans..

Well, you'll probably see Henderson on jet sweeps a couple of times a game - just like Tyler B.

Go Pitt.
