For those that want higher rated recruits, and Local talent. Could 2017 be our year.
Looking at “Local” 4-stars or higher “with PITT offers”. (not sure if I missed anyone from list..)
For those that want 4-stars, they are in our area next year…
2017 (? of 7) – Hainsey(OL), Lugg(OL), Thorpe(OL), Jeter(DE), Adams(LB), Ford(Ath), Wade(Ath)
2016 (? of 2) – Hamlin, Sanders (PSU?)
2015 (1 of 1) – Whitehead (PITT)
2014 (2 of 6) – Bookser (PITT), Grimm (PITT),Winovich (Mich), Nicholson (MSU), Henry (WVU), McKenzie (VT)
2013 (2 of 4) – Boyd (PITT), D Johnson 5* (PITT),Foster (Alabama), Kugler (Mich)
Before 2013, I only see Commits, not all offers..
2012 (3) – Bisnowaty, Rippy, Shell
2011 (0), 2010 (0),
2009 (2) – Mason, Thomas
2008 (4) – Baldwin(5*), Hale, Nix, Saddler
2007 (1) – Jacobsen
2006 (4) - Byham, Dickerson, Malecki, Smith
2005 (0), 2004 (0), 2003 (0)
2002 (1) - Palko
I know 2016 signing day is a long way off… and I don’t want to get too far ahead… but, I believe the 2016 class is very important for many reasons.. One reason is to set the momentum going into 2017. There have not been 7 local 4-stars from the local area for awhile. And if so, when have we landed a majority of them. I don’t think it is realistic to land every local recruit, but it would be nice to keep the local talent, when rated this high.
a) WIN - I agree with those that say… We must Win to gain Recruiting momentum, not just for this year, but years to come.
b) Continue focus outside of area -I agree with those that say, there are a lot of big fish outside the local area that we also need to go after…
c) Land locals immediately to keep high rated talent home in the future - Regardless of Stars for 2016, there are still many talented 3 stars in the area that we need to land. This will help us gain momentum for more high level options in 2017.
My point is … 2017 may be our best opportunity, for a long time, to gather high level recruits within our local area…
Thoughts?
