Have a coach with too many years left on the contract you want to fire: No problem! Just find the most random, meaningless, contract violation you can find.

This one takes the cake.

Yea, I'm glad we did. I even posted weeks before we should try to look for some contract breach and mentioned his Louisville tirade and f-bombing an injured Luther on national TV. Most people thought it was a crazy idea but I was right. I thought it was a little shady by Heather but it needed to be done. Unless Capel is egregiously in breach, I dont think she manufactures anything like Georgia is doing. Capel seems like a good guy, just not a very good coach and that's on Heather.

I don't feel bad for these coaches. They are extremely well compensated. They don't for a moment hesitate to jump for more money, even if they signed a new contract next week.

So....bleep them. The pendulum has tipped way too much in their favor. I know, schools don't have to give them these contracts, but they really do to be competitive. And yes some extensions are really stupid (see Pitt, Capel, Jeff) but again you are trying to show "stability" to recruits. Which at the end of the day is ridiculous because a coach can sign a 20 year extension, that doesn't mean he won't leave the very next day for another job.

So I don't know why schools fall for that extorsion by these coaches and their agents. So good on Georgia. Crean has been horrible.

His buyout is only $3.6 million, an amount that Georgia can surely afford with ease.

I read about this at breakfast and UGA denied it....stated that incident was properly reported to HR.

The university released a statement early Saturday disputing reports that it was attempting to fire Crean for cause because he failed to report the incident to the athletics department's human resources office.

"There have been various media reports related to UGA Athletics personnel ranging from completely inaccurate to incomplete and premature," the school said. "The incident in question was reported properly as required by university policies and is under review. We will comment if and when appropriate."

No, this is embarrassingly stupid. I know it's cool to hate rich guys with power, but this is stupid if it's true.
