God forever bless the Pitt fan who wrote to Benz and dubbed him “Benzhole”.
That clueless clown printed it in his “ Mad bro” rag. Of course, Benzhole managed to throw all Pitt fans under the bus in the process.
“Benzhole” is a keeper.

I like how he ripped those Pitt fans, LOL. It was probably people from this board who get upset that all sports writers don't get on their knees and lick Pitt's butt. He was right on the money! Some of you complain that you want coverage, then you get it and complain about it, and you don't want coverage, you want sunshine, 110% perfect promotion! Yes PROMOTION! Anybody says anything 100% TRUE, that doesn't make Pitt look like Nirvana, you get pissed off! And rip people for being HONEST. These writers have said way more than enough good stuff about Pitt this year, nothing at all wrong with throwing in the context that Pitt has been crap for most of the last 35 years, I love Pitt, but TELL THE REALITY. His column was spot on about some of you Pitt HOMERS.

I appreciated that he signed his response with it. It has a nice ring to it.

Though I've got to say I find him a lot more tolerable than he was 10-15 years ago before he went to Boston and flamed out there.

Some don't understand the reality of the Pittsburgh media being atrocious to Pitt. Treating st penn and wvcc like hometown teams for years is beyond ridiculous. I've actually spoken to former Pitt football players that have said the same thing. Most of the Pittsburgh sports media root against Pitt and want them to fail. The national media is so much more positive towards Pitt than our local yinzer biased Pittsburgh media clowns.

Please provide some evidence that local media root against Pitt and want them to fail. Real evidence, not just your opinion.

Yesterday there was the thread angry that the Pitt/Clemson announcer said "Pitt has an off campus stadium and their scoring average is inflated by blowouts vs UMass and NH"... ALL TRUTH, but anger over those MILD, not even negative comments, :) LOL

I'd say they've been solidly average for most of the last 25. I can't say we've sucked too much since Harris took over. More winning seasons than losing ones in that stretch.

Before that, yes, completely sucked.

I think the annoyance is that nearly every team's scoring average is padded by OOC play. Why point it out for Pitt? And did he fall to see the points we put up against Tennessee and Georgia Tech?

That said, all the comments the media makes about "Pitting" blowing games right when it seems like you're on the cusp of breaking out ARE TOTALLY VALID, so I have no problem with those comments being made because IT's ALL TRUE.

- I never seen someone on this board ask for local writers to cover Pitt more. That has never been an issue. The issue has ALWAYS been they are completely negative on Pitt while not negative on pervU

- Anyone posting and spending time on a PITT FOOTBALL FORUM day in and day out and is not a Pitt homer, is an absolute fool. Or the above mentioned douche.

- I have no idea what the guy writes cause I never read anything they write. Why? Because why would I care? If the writers here, or PSN, or the Pitt news, or some Pitt site writes something negative, I would read it, because I know that is coming from a source that is Pro Pitt, that is voicing a concern. Some a-hole from god knows where that is writing to draw angst from local readers is just a dim witted daft soul that has a sad life, and I dont care what he says. The less others care then he will be fired, and will be replaced.

First, I have literally never read for more negative press coverage of Pitt, if you see that, please show me an example.

Next, Perv State DOESNT. I dont read articles about OSU in the Pittsburgh paper, far superior team that also is 2 hours form Pittsburgh. And, of course PSU have not won anything at all the past 25 years, so even that argument is wrong. If anything, they deserve nothing from any paper.

You can read what you like, I dont see the point. I dont tune into CNN if I want republican news or OAN to see how Joe Biden is doing. That is all these loud mouth idiots are doing too, no different at all. They want to incite. Frankly, I would rather read your synopsis than whoever Benz is. And I always thought you were a flamer

Critical of a team that is 6-1 and in the top 20 in forever with the #6 FPI in the nation before playing a huge home game against a rival?

Again, no idea what the guy said, and dont think it was posted here either, but why would media in Pittsburgh be critical of Pitt for having a great season so far???

Im happy not seeing the usual cast of flamers on the board. Some are trying to talk attendance, or not getting a recruit or reaching for anything negative to talk about. Really, things are good right now. Got 2 tough teams to play in a row, if we can win both games, it would be incredible.

He didn't say anything critical. Not that I read. It's totally valid and deserved to bring up failures in similar situations the last 20 years, that's good journalism.
 
If you can't get attention with your stellar writing, insightful analysis or knowledge of the team you cover, you do what Benzhole does: Intenionally inflame without enlightening.

I love the "you people" reference to Pitt fans: It never changes with you people. You have the biggest persecution complex of any fan base I’ve ever encountered.

His limited experience includes stints in Columbus, Salt Lake City, Syracuse and, now, the #2 newspaper in Pittsburgh. I would hardly call that a critical mass of experience for judging fan bases. And he totally overlooks the fact that he judges an entire fan base based on the people who take the time to post online or comment to him.

??? I thought this thread was about a writer writing something negative today. I still would not hold a random writer making 40k a year with a itch against Pitt over anyone on this board. It is just an opinion from someone that means nothing. Not sure why anyone who likes Pitt would give someone like that an audience.
