Lose Miami on Thanksgiving and get Syracuse???

Pitt-Syracuse should be a hot football rivalry but it is not. Miami was a much more attractive last game opponent especially with games on Thanksgiving in South Florida.

Dixon made Pitt-Syracuse a hot item in basketball, but the last heated Pitt-Syracuse football matchup occurred way back in 1989. So why did the ACC give Miami to Duke for the final game?

Yes, the Pitt-Syracuse "rivalry" goes gack decades, but so does Pitt-Miami. Maybe the fact that we have only beaten Miami twice since 1997 has something to do with it. I'd rather have BC as the recurring non-Coastal opponent than Syracuse.

Well, God no I'd not want BC as the every year crossover. But ending the year with Syracuse is a complete downer, I don't deny that.

People aren't excited for this game, but that's likely because once Pitt ended Syracuse's dominance in the 90's - it's been equally lopsided the other way. Walt lost to Cuse in 2001 - and since then Cuse has won two games in the series, in 2004 and 2012.

It takes a little hatred back and forth for people to start caring.

Pitt didn't beat Syracuse until 2002. Since then it's been lopsided. And we didn't exactly sell out for last years Miami game either.

"but so does Pitt-Miami"...rivalry? A Rivalry takes two to tango win-loss wise historically....

Pitt has no rivalry with Miami. They're just a big name program that's been on our schedule a while. There's no bad blood or shit talk between the two schools the way there has been between WVU and those morons up east. Similarly, there's no "rivalry" with Notre Dame either. We need to learn the difference between a rival and a traditional opponent.

I thought Syracuse-BC and Pitt-Miami would always be the Thanksgiving games. Not this year though. Its probably good for Pitt to host Miami when school is in session because if Miami gets good again, that's a game students can get excited about.
