I think PedSt's offense is greatly over-rated and Okie St will be the real test of Pitt's improvement on defense. That said, they looked much more sound from last season.
The offense is saddled without a threat of a mobile QB. The receivers need to play at a much higher level- if they can't, it won't matter who is taking the snaps.

I agree. Adding Whitehead and Ashton to the mix is significant. The younger guys will continue to get better with experience. The QB position should improve with more game action.
And our opponents should be improving over the season as well. Zero sum game.
Ought this to be developmental year? in 2018, Weah is gone. Don't see any receivers of note on rooster or committed. QB; whoever starts will have little or no experience, unless we pick up another last chance grad. LB; no one of note prepared to step in and upgrade OL, DlL, RB, and secondary should be decent.
We still have quite a way to go to challenge for the Coastal and as of now it seems that we are not getting the caliber of commitments at QB, LB, and WR necessary for success.
We certainly have seen sustained improvement over the last 3 yrs but, climbing this hill is going to take a lot longer than we had hoped.

Narduzzi has said it takes 5 years to build a program. This is early in year 3. The good news is that the D is showing promise for the first time. The young PN recruits are actually getting on the field, with more to come, including P. Ford. Guys on D look faster and tackle better than in the past. With more playing time, experience, and new additions they could really be good. We'll see.
A program at our level requires 4-5 years to build. He is absolutely on the right track. The current senior class is very thin. This is going to be the most challenging year of all.
