I was listening to JJ Kitchens podcast (good content you should give him a listen) but he talked at length about how angry and nasty Steelers fans were about Kenny Pickett winning a Superbowl. He even said people were sending threatening messages to his DM. I realize Steelers haven't been good in a while, but Pittsburgh has 6 Super Bowls....by comparison Philly won just their second on Sunday. It's so bad even Big Ben is calling people out on his podcast for hating on Kenny. It makes the Steelers fan base look like whiny jealous spoiled brats who prayed for Kenny's downfall because he asked for a trade.....when most of you didn't want him here in the first place. Can anyone explain any of this who is actually a real Steelers fan....and don't give me that no one cares about him crap the man's name comes up more in Pittsburgh media than Ben's does and he is a future Hall of famer!

IMO it’s because a lot of this stuff is from non Pitt fans who are mad that the Steelers drafted him #1 and failed with the Steelers for many reasons. There have been many former Steelers who played for other teams and won a Super Bowl and fans never complained. It has a lot to do with him being a #1 draft pick and gone after year 2.

That's a somewhat reasonable explanation, but if true people are taking this college rivalry stuff too far....I mean people were starting rumors about his wife for God's sake!!!?
Yeah I actually remember the Kordell rumors. People were passing them around so freely I actually thought it was true....until I met the guy and watched him picking up his children from daycare.
eagles fans were screaming about how bad Jalen Hurts is and wanting their coach fired as recently as october. my nephew is an ohio state alum and fan and he was telling me how bad Day was getting crapped on all this fall.in columbus. both teams won a championship 3 months later..

Yeah but I guess the difference is Kenny doesn't even play for the Steelers anymore. James Harrison, Lagarette Blunt, Antonio Brown, even LeBron Bell all forced their way out of left on less the great terms but none of them were treated the same. It got personal and ugly with Kenny..... I mean to bring his wife into it is just low...I know it isn't the entire fanbase but it was enough to get local and national attention so.....

Eh, JJ puts some bait out there that attracts those types. It's really not much different than the Kenny fanatics. There is the modern fan who focuses more on the players and doesn't seem bothered the team doesn't win playoff games. The older fans couldn't care less whether Pickett fails or succeeds because they're more focused on Tomlin's failures in the games that matter.
I think it's cool he won for his childhood team. He was a super nice dude when I met him at camp and had a lot of great memories of his play at Pitt and some good ones with the Steelers as well. Now Pickett can have a nice career and make millions of dollars whether he gets a chance to start again or as a 10+year backup.
