Unfortunately looks like it’s gonna be a bloodbath. Then we have easy street til January. Not a bad start to the season. Won an important one we shouldn’t have and lost one we should have that won’t matter.

I am always the optimist bit it really looks like an uphill battle on Friday. But the thing I am looking at is how well Pitt competes. Can we avoid getting run out of the gym. Keep things close and you never know.

I have a feeling their pressure D is really going to bother us. Hell, Louisville has owned us for a decade even with our better of teams, but they've destroyed us the last 5 years or so, it seems. I am hoping for a moral victory in this one. That said, Louisville didn't look like they could blow us out offensively based on what I saw last night. We just have to limit the turnovers that lead to easy transition buckets and force them to play half-court offense to keep it within single digits.

They were also playing the #4 team in the country. They’re gonna destroy us on the boards. Aiden Igheion, a kid we wasted time recruiting and would play 30 mins a game for us, is a mop up guy for them. Their bigs are gonna destroy us

Going to be important for Xavier not to pick up cheap fouls. He might have to log 40 mins for us Friday. The off-ball screening on this team has to improve before Friday or we are really going to struggle offensively.

To many times we get into our offense and set a down screen or a flex cut and the screeners are setting a screen on air. The cutters have to do a better job setting up the screen too.

Maybe Friday we get scorching hot from behind the arc, gosh knows we are do. If the defense comes to play we will certainly have a chance.

I'm not saying Pitt really has a chance or that Louisville hasn't had their way with Pitt over the last so many years, but let's not forget that Pitt beat them here last season. It can happen. I just want them to give them a game and let Louisville know that they were given a battle. Find a way to stay within striking distance and see what happens.

Is Louisville still paying recruits and wining and dining them with women or did that stop when Pitino left. Once a cheater always a cheater.

Based on today's Sagarin ratings Lousiville should be about a 14-15 point favorite. Will be great if we don't lose by that much--terrific if we can keep it to single digits. Hope we don't lose by more than 20.

This is one of those guaranteed losses. I just hope they play well. If they get blown out, who cares. If they keep it respectable, that's something to build on. If we were to win, that changes things quite a bit.

I don’t know why this triggers me so bad, but I’ll say it again. Our head coach landed Zion Williamson and Marvin Bagley, two kids everyone knows got paid. He has violations from Oklahoma. We do not want the NCAA looking into anyone. Because between the 2, they’ll hammer us and not Louisville.

Duke landed elite recruiting classes before Capel got there, and is doing the same after he left. I do agree with you regarding the gutless organization known as the NCAA. They will not go after the big fish, but will bully the schools that aren’t the headliners.

Well that’s my point. Yes Duke has landed good classes pre capel and post capel but the classes WITH capel were their best. And it’s one of the main reasons he was hired. It’s just funny we all want ppl looking into these blue bloods recruiting. If Duke were to ever get investigated, like the other schools, it would fall on a black assistant, not the head coach.

it’s utter bullshit, but it’s the truth.

And Capel would get a 3 game suspension. Duke would have to vacate some wins. Inotherwords, who cares. The NCAA does nothing. Will Wade was caught talking about paying players on a wire. Nothing.

Get the NAACP involved and the NCAA will shut up real quick.

Hope we keep it close.
The one positive is Louisville hasn't loss yet.
So maybe we can give them trouble, but they should beat us by double digits.

I mean, shouldn’t that have happened already? Black assistants have gone down for white coaches all across the country in the FBI sting. The lone white coach to go down was Pitino and it was like his 18th scandal.

Am I the only one who isn't concerned at all about this game? We lose - pfffffft. I'm thrilled that we are actually seeing real progress this year. Baby steps.

Think once the Ville's staff viewed Pitt's trouble handling some of Rutgers pressure the game plan was easy.
Expect pressure.

Louisville has kicked our ass so many times in so many ways over the years I just cannot stand getting socked by them anymore. No more of this who cares we aren’t there yet BS at least not with the birds. Rick was about the only guy out there who beat Jamie regularly. This game should be close.

Anyone is beatable this year as countless previous results have shown. Late Friday before finals maybe the crowd won’t be as amped. I’m rooting for the upset and will be disappointed if it doesn’t happen.

But still will remain optimistic for the rest of the season if we lose as I like the direction the team is headed.

Aren't you kind of contradicting yourself?

based on what, their game against Michigan or their game against Akron? Bloodbath?..geez the hyperbole around these parts..

I picked Michigan over Louisville because Louisville had played no one.

Michigan shot a woeful percentage and Louisville's frontcourt had a ton of rebounds. Louisville did not light things up on offense.

If Pitt can score (65) and not get absolutely killed on the boards, maybe they can hang.

Don't know that Louisville plays for steals as much as in the past.

Talk about damning with faint praise. Was wondering how long it would take you to get back to your tired little act.

Unfortunately we are the worst screening team Pick N Roll whatever you want to call it we ain't good at it. We are a find your own offense type of team I hope it changes but it's going to take a little more time and Friday is not enough.

I think we will be fighting foul trouble all night. Maybe a rabid Yum center can unleash the genie, but probably not. I will be happy with a respectable score and Pitt not killing themselves with bad fouls or unforced turnovers. Just play hard and keep it clean on the execution.

This Pitt team has some bully in them. They like to bang, play tough right up to and sometimes over the line. Trey, Hamilton, X, and even Murph have some junkyard dog in them (that's for Vader).

I think they need to turn this into a tough, ugly, slug-fest type of no flow game. Then hope you turn your 3 point shooting around.

If we do that then some people from the other thread will complain about how we set basketball back several decades.

He has a bug up his backside about Capel over something, but it’s clearly personal for some reason.
