I wasn't able to watch Louisville game. Clearly we played poorly in many areas inclusing FT shooting. Because of the score I couldn't bring myself to watch the ESPN replay--something I usually do when I can't watch a game live. That being said, some posters who saw the game mentioned--
1. Louisville playing physical defense throughout and Pitt not responding in kind as the primary cause of our poor offensive performance.
2. Bad officiating (mostly in favor of Louisville).
This leads me to ask whether the officiating for this game reverted to the game being called the way games were called in past years prior to the new "freedom of movement" emphasis? If so, did Louisville get away with hand checking, arm bars, etc? Did the Louisville approach mimic the old John Thompson teams mugging style that caused officials to back off on the whistle so as not to appear whistle happy?
Any opinions on this? Or, do I need to go suffer through the pain of watching the replay to decide for myself?
