Never understood why Louisville always beats us no matter if it's at the Pete or on the road , especially this year I don't think they are good at all , average at best .. They embarrassed us though and I just don't get it .. They don't play particularly good defense this year and on offense they are even worse .. We should handle them at home

Pressure on the perimeter disrupts the flow of the motion offense.

They also tend to have back line shot blockers to defend the rim.

So they squeeze us into rushed mid range jumpers under pressure.

It's the right tonic for our scheme.
Just like we carve up basic 2-3 zones with our scheme.

Matchup zone like Louisville is a different animal.

That "average at best" team is about to beat the #2 team in the country.

I swear people on this board don't understand the term "average" or "mediocre". There are 351 teams in division 1 college basketball. Any team that makes the tournament from a P5 conference is, by definition, MUCH better than average. Even the teams in the NIT are above average.

Louisville is one of the best 25-30 teams in the country this year, without a doubt. That puts them in the top 10%. VERY MUCH above average.

Ok bud ... Feel better about yourself now ?

Just disagreeing with your point. The "average at best" team just beat the #1/#2 team in the country.

And you're wondering why Pitt has trouble with them? Arguably the best team in the country couldn't beat them tonight.

I guess I did exaggerate a bit , they are pretty good , On a neutral court they lose to UNC though I think , but we shouldn't have got embarrassed like that against them , maybe it's just because I cannot stand that program or Pitino haha

IMO you just answered your original thought when you said that you "cannot stand that program or
Pitino. A lot of people would agree with you, but realistically let's face it he makes the games with
Pitt extremely difficult for our players. They literally pressure us everywhere, sometimes full court,
and always out front and inside. Their press makes it difficult for us to get the ball up the floor and
the continued outside pressure on the pg gets us out of sync, and we end up taking forced and hurried
shots. They're usually bigger, better, and tougher on the inside. The last few years they've handled us
inside. Most importantly they're usually more talented than we are (this year, again, they have players
we recruited but didn't get). Talent once again...hmmm where have I heard that before LOL.
Oh, one last thing...like him or hate him...Pitino knows basketball. He can teach it, can coach it, and
although not a choirboy like Jamie, he wins both in season and in the NCAA's.
