My God, the SEC was even better than I thought. SEC up 12-1 with NC St, Duke, and VT in close games.

This shouldn't come as any real big surprise. And this isnt all NIL. The SEC has maybe like 12 of the best 25 or so coaches in college basketball. You can argue about the list and I'm not sure who all should or shouldn't be on it but the collection of coaches they have is just incredible. Does it remind you this:

Calhoun, Boeheim (in prime), Dixon, Huggins, Buzz, Cronin, Wright, Brey. There's a reason that old Big East was really good. College basketball will always be a coach's game. College football is a player's game. There's enough good basketball players in this country to find 3 good ones and then some capable complementary players. Pitt will be ok but the rest of the ACC is an abortion. And its not even that all the coaches are that bad. We just have a bunch of average coaches and that's just not going to cut it vs the ACC.

This SEC, this year, may be the best conference of all time. They could get 13 or 14 teams in the tournament. If the ACC & BE only combine for 7 or 8, its possible. Not likely, but possible.

The SEC has won like five championships in 50 years and only one in the last 20. Thats especially alarming considering how many teams they seem to put into the tournament each year. Lets see how they do when it matters the most before we start believing the onslaught of hyperbole we get from that conference nonstop these days

Uh... no. The SEC has a lot more talent than the ACC. Better talent, better coaches... It's just superior in every way.

ACC is a 4 bid league at best. Duke, UNC, and Clemson will make it, plus one more will go to Dayton if we're lucky. That's exactly what would have happened last year if NCSU didn't go on their run, so it's not that far-fetched, especially considering performance in the OOC so far.

UNC is also shaky right now
NC will actually be a good matchup for us. Neither team has much of anything inside. They are 4-4 I think, if they don't go at least 13-7 the committee may leave them out, although I am sure they will give a precious blueblood every benefit of the doubt.

The best coaches also get the best talent. If we only get 4 or 5 in, if I'm Jim Phillips I do something drastic. Like putting a mandatory minimum salary on new coach hires. Like say a minimum of $4 million. So BC, if you want to stay in the ACC, you cant pay any less than $4 million for your next coach. Louisville, Syracuse, GT, etc....there's no going cheap. You want to hire the assistant. Ok, do it. But you are paying them $4 million. This would incent schools to try to get more accomplished coaches.

😂. That's ridiculous. If Phillips ever proposed such an absurd idea, university presidents would have him bounced in record time.

The ACC hasn't won shit when it mattered most since 2019. And had the refs had called an obvious double dribble on Ty Jerome, Auburn probably beats Texas Tech in the championship that year.
ACC put a team in the final game last year. With only 5 bids.

Well, Phillips cant just do it unilaterally. It would require some type of vote. But drastic times call for drastic measures. There's really no way out of this for the ACC. All the best coaches are in the SEC and B10/B12. The only way out is when there's a coach opening, that that school either hire an already accomplished coach or get lucky with a mid-major lottery ticket or assistant. The MM lottery ticket or assistant hasn't worked.

Right now, its a 3 bid league, though UNC will get to above .500 and back in I think. Probably just going to be a 4 bid league. You cant have 22% of your league going. That's A10 level. And right now the ACC is closer to the A10 or American than it is the SEC. Something big needs to happen. That may start with getting rid of BC in favor of UConn.
