Heather chose to ignore the reality that Narduzzi had regressed the last three years from prior two years. He was given 2 pay raises and years added to his contract. Lyke didn’t hire Narduzzi so she was in tough spot if didn’t give him contract extension then would send wrong message to fans and Narduzzi. Unfortunately, we are now a season and a half removed from this error in judgement and Pitt football needs a reset. Lyke must figure out what the board is willing to do when righting this ship as program is teetering and will only get more unstable as the clamoring for change gets louder. This negativity will not be good for recruiting or player retention so the actions Lyke takes in next few weeks will be critical in what direction Pitt football will take.
I don’t want change just for change Lyke must be clear in her objectives and what the University is willing to invest in a fledgling program. There are no more excuses left Pitt football is on life support and we need an infusion of fresh ideas and a new direction. Heather Lyke needs to be the one who hires the coach this is her main job imo!
