I don't get this for Pitt's particular situation if includes men's lax: lack of fields, lack of training facilities, lack of proper resources for other sports, lack of Title IX balance, etc. Maybe the ACC is pushing this for network content. Maybe the facility plans will address this. Maybe there is a major benefactor behind it. I don't get it, and that has nothing to do with lax as a sport, just from the business of running Pitt's athletic department and adding another deficit to the balance sheet.

just what we need, another Pitt team that won't win a conference game for years, like some of our other Olympic sports teams

I have a hard time believing this is true.

I do know that the ACC is pushing schools to add certain programs, and lacrosse is one of them.

There was some talk way back when Louisville joined that they may add mens lacrosse and women gymnastics.

The ACC is one team short of having a gymnastics conference. It was set to add one before Maryland left.

Would Pitt have to drop a men's sport? maybe that's why she slow playing the wrestling team.

It's because it isn't true

Hopefully it will be funded by direct outside donations, otherwise it will be eating from other current programs revenue or academic programs via the general fund. LAX is not a bad sport and actually have played it, but its a niche sport with not a huge following that is going to be revenue positive at Pitt.

Will be interesting to see what Lyke does.
