Bo Schneider started 5 games as a true freshman at Central Florida, throwing for 189 yards at South Carolina and 236 yards at Tulane. While that isn't exactly impressive, MacVittie only played a handful of varsity HS games. Unless he is some extreme under the radar prodigy, I cant imagine he beats out Schneider next year and I'm not sure I want MacVittie playing the 5th or 6th game of QB in his life at the PedoDome.

Why? Ped St is slow and weak on D. It will be a good game to get Mcvittie ready for the ACC.

I think if Schneider starts, that's a bad sign. I don't think Schenider is on scholarship
I think it was posted that Schneider is considered a walk-on this year since he has to sit it out anyway because of the transfer and will be on scholarship next year.

Because PSU has a very good secondary and the first road start for college QBs usually doesn't go good. Schneider started the game at South Carolina and is the much more experienced player.

They have a good secondary? I didnt know, considering we didnt need to pass to beat them.
Their front 7 is the worst we have seen all year and will be even worse next year.

Experience doesn't always add up to more talent. I hope to see MacVittie blow everyone away.

With everyone returning and gaining experience, they will be worse? Interesting...I'm guessing you think Pitt will be better despite losing around 11 or 12 starters, right?

Schneider is a pocket passer and probably slightly more accurate. I believe Tmac has the greater potential, Duzz said earlier this year that he can run and he can throw. Although Tmac is not listed as a dual threat, he apparently has that capability. I've read that has a 4.5 40 time.

I think the starting qb will be whoever Duzz feels can best protect the ball the best.

Actually they start 3 or 4 seniors on D. So no, they don't all return.

Yes, Pitt will be much better next year. Pretty sure we will survive the loss of Glambos, Caprara, Webb, Ryan Lewis....etc...

And doJo, biz, orndoff, Nate, possibly JC. Next years team will not even be close to as talented as this year, not even close.

Biz would be a great loss if we didnt have JJS and O'Neil at OT...the OL will be every bit as good as this year.
Nate isnt a loss....we rarely pass this season for a reason.

The D will be much more talented...just younger.

JC will likely stay, but Moss has ran better this year, you cant deny that..

Orndoff is a hell of a player, but if clark is as good as advertised we will be in great shape.

Bottom line, no way in hell Narduzzi takes a step backwards in yr 3.

Price, Soto, Jarrett. The entire front 7 on D will be pretty green. Redshirt Fr and Sophs seeing key time is not a recipe for success...see Ohio State. Looked at PSU's roster they lose DE, LB, Safety, Center

Moss has not ran better than JC this year. I forgot about price. Biz is an allconfetence left tackle, JJS played like 4 games in his career, hasn't started a game since '14. Are you really thinking there won't be a drop off?

Year 3 has nothing to do with it, especially if the prior staff did a lousy job recruiting towards the end, which they did. Narduzzi will have 3 classes. His first class will be RS Sophs and was ranked in the 70's. last years class was good but you can't expect RS freshman to be really good at all the positions needed. Veteran leadership means a lot in college football. We lose a lot of it. Mark D had his worst year in yr 3

Interesting that Soto is suddenly a loss now, after most of the board didnt want to see him on the field at all last yr...
My point is...players will step up. Telani will be just as good as Soto and will be a senior. Hendrix and Allen will be ready at DE...and Blair will be a Senior. Brightwell, and Wirginis playing more is an upgrade, and they are upper classmen.

I will admitt Jarret will be tough to replace because he is a huge beast in the middle....but i see huge upgrades at many other positions to make up for that.

Guys like Mckee, Stocker Hamlin, Coleman, Camp, Watts are much MUCH more talented than the guys we play now and by next year theyll be ready to make an impact.

Penn State has a very good secondary, and it was a big part of their win over OSU.

Pitt's defensive line losses will hurt them as defending Penn State's offense requires discipline and experience. Linebackers situation will still be in flux with some raw players there as well. That's going to make for tough sledding against a team that wants to spread you out and run multiple read-option plays with play action as well.

Pitt's secondary will actually be better, just by default.

I'm not as worried about the O line. JJS may not be Biz by game two but he's a good one. O'Neill will be a monster as long as he's healthy, and we'll be able to overcome the loss of Dorian Johson. Maybe a slight dropoff but hopefully helped by the experience of some of the skill players.

JC 4.3 ypc
Moss 6.1 ypc

Sorry man..
I love JC but Moss has been the better RB this year. But, theres no guarantee JC even leaves.

Overall the team will be better... so no. No drop off.

with your logic, Ibrahim is the best rb ever to play for Pitt. Who is our starting left guard next year? Who is going to get any pressure on the qb?

Soto has been very good this year, but you are right someone could step up. Price is tough to replace because of his motor. The problem isn't the individual players. It's the sum of the parts. You're basically replacing the entire part of the D that has played well and expecting the 2nd game of the year to be cohesive on the road. On the other side of the ball, you probably have a RS fr qb with 1 game under his belt playing in what I would guess is a night game

JJS for Biz isnt much of a drop.

Clark for Orndoff is no drop

2017 RBs for 2016 RBs may be an upgrade since Conner isnt himself yet

Schneider for Peterman is no drol
Hamlin for Lewis is an upgrade

Ford for Webb is an upgrade

Wirginis for Galambos is no drop

Brightwell for Caprara is no drop

Watts and Camp for Jarrett and Soto is no drop given those 2 will.have a year.under their belt.

Ypc is superior... its not like Moss only has a few carries. He is playing well and deserves credit.

The offense & Defense will be better. The OL still has a lot of talent, and will be mostly Jrs and Srs.

Idk who the other guard will be? Dintino will be a 4th yr Jr and Baker will be a 5th yr senior. One of them will do fine. Wont be a star like Dojo, but O'Neil, Officer and Bookser should all be better next year than this year. Dont forget the guys who come back will improve.

I think it will be a fun battle to watch, even though I would love to see them add a graduate transfer to bridge one more season. While unlikely, someone like Malik Zaire would be fun to watch in Canada's system.

Regardless and focusing on MacVittie and Schneider, people shouldnt undercut Schneider. Watch his film from the South Carolina game last season when he started as a true freshman at UCF.

Here is that. Watch the the series around 50 min mark:

MacVittie brings more with his feet in Canada's offense, but Schneider has good pocket presence and nice touch on his passes. Like I said, should be interesting.

TMac will be the starting QB next year. Most fans have some trepidation coming to grips with a redshirt freshman starting, and with good reason, as we have not been blessed with above average quarterback play over the years. It is not going to be without some bumps in the road, but TMac is going to make our fan base very happy over the next few years!

Pretty much agree with everything but I think Jarrett will be tough to replace.

This is so bizarre. Why don't we worry about this year before tackling next year? Nobody knows where either program will be to start next season so let's focus on this season.

There will be plenty of opportunities to sort out these issues at the appropriate time.

I think the offense will be relatively fine. The only major lost is DoJo. The qb that can move the down more consistently will start. I think it can be interesting if Conner leaves. Conner's decision can have repercussions for the rest of the depth at RB and affect the importance of the QB.
On defense, I'm not as sure. You're losing 7 starters and 2 top reserves( not on the D-line). For me, the question won't be "talent". It will be leadership. You will be losing all your leadership and decision makers.
Weird thing about it, the offense might have to score more next year. I'm saying that because you are losing a lot of your run defense. but that's just my opinion.

I hope MacVittie is the real deal but I will hold my expectations in check at the moment. I have been hearing about how good the QB in waiting is at Pitt for 10 years and have yet to see one since Palko. Peterman is a decent college QB but not the lights out QB that we have been waiting for lately.

Nobody but the coaches have any way of knowing that, and even they won't know until both players are practicing next spring and fall. I would think Schneider has the leg up due to experience and he was brought in for a reason, but I certainly don't think the job is his to lose or anything like that.

76 you are the guy that said Villanova's front 7 were better than PSUs front 7 right? You are an extreme judge of football talent my man!Psu does have 3 senior starters on D and now 2(rt out for year) on O.So I have to agree with old 76 they will not be nearly as good next year, theyre losing too much.Plus the student section won't fill up untill the end of the 1st period on this noon kickoff game. This quiet crowd will give your qb enough time adjust to the away game.If I had to bet who will start I'd bet Darduzzi starts the qb who gives his team the best chance to win!Again I show off my intelligence and make my Cal State of PA professor's proud.Well the ones that are alive!

Novas front 7 played better against us than PSUs guys did. Fact.
