he can't cover a potted plant and he's out there running his mouth non-stop. Last play the pass went through the receiver's hands and hit him in the facemask, and Maddox is acting like he just broke up the play. Pathetic.
And #2.ditto for #38
All I know is if you're gonna run your mouth you'd better back it up. Maddox is chipping at a guy who had a couple easycatches on him then dropped one that hit him in the facemask. Keep your mouth shut and play ball.having fun is different from showboating. I am tired of people who don't see that there is a difference between celebrating and showboating/trash talking.

As for last week, the D made some huge plays but gave up an ACC record of nearly 600 passing yards, they are ESPN Soble for one of the bottom 3 pass defenses out of the 127 FBS programs, so I don't think they've earned the right to say $hit to anyone.
having fun is different from showboating. I am tired of people who don't see that there is a difference between celebrating and showboating/trash talking. That is all you see in the NFL now, these guys showboating when they haven't even done anything special.
Should start giving them penalties for unsportsmen-like conduct
Look who is playing god and deciding what standards to shove down others throats. Why don't you go to practice this week and lecture these kids on proper behavior on the field. By the way you see all kinds of behavior in the NFL and in college football.having fun is different from showboating. I like the players playing with attitude, get in players heads and talking smack. Be the aggressor and intimidate your opponent. No complaints from me!
Not to make a statement on society but I find it absurd that the typical conservative types bitch and moan when players dance, or people protest, woman have abortions.
Freedom is freedom when you want to sleep with your AR-15 or Colin kaepernick takes a knee.
It's entertainment.well I am not a conservative I just want to see the game played the right way (or at least give an honest attempt to play it the right way) and to display proper sportsmanship during the game. It really isn't too much to ask.

You get to decide what the "right way" is?
It's grown men running full speed at each other. It's gladiators. Bet you loved when jack lambert was doing his intimidation tactics.
It's entertainment.
If you're not entertained watch something more civilized.
actually when I posted "the right way" I was referring to the dbacks grabbing and holding on every pass play, going on the assumption that the officials won't call interference on every play. That is NOT playing the right way, at least in my opinion.
Lambert didn't "showboat" but he was a dirty player, as were many of the Steelers of that era
Let me guess, you're white. Am I right?having fun is different from showboating. I am tired of people who don't see that there is a difference between celebrating and showboating/trash talking. That is all you see in the NFL now, these guys showboating when they haven't even done anything special.

Souf is correct....it is entertainment.
And watching a bum like Maddox talk smack makes me laugh out loud.......
lol good think Blount or hell, Revis in his Patriot and Jet glory days didn't use his hands to his advantage.
Let me guess, you're white. Am I right?
Well there's this Bob, since you're stereotyping and making unfounded assumptions: I'm far from conservative, I actually have no problem personally with the statement that Kaepernick is trying to make, and I don't own a gun of any sort, let alone an assault rifle. But I did play a lot of football in my previous life, including at the college level, and I have certain beliefs from those days that I carry with me today. One of them is that if you're getting your ass kicked, you have no business running your mouth. Maddox has been an absolute disgrace as a cover corner all year. That's just calling it like it is. Any time we've played a team with good size and athleticism on the outside, he and his buddy Lewis have been flat out embarrassed in a way that I'm not sure I've ever witnessed in all my years as a football participant and/or fan. Just last week, an all-time ACC record in passing yards against. That takes a special kind of ineptitude from your DBs to allow that to happen. Not to make a statement on society but I find it absurd that the typical conservative types bitch and moan when players dance, or people protest, woman have abortions.

So this week, Maddox was matched up most plays with TJ Rahming, a 5'9, 170 pound WR for Duke. I'm sure Maddox was relieved to finally cover someone who is about his size. Rahming caught the first 6 balls thrown to him in the first half, including one that went for about 45 yards. On the 6th one, a 5 yard completion to the sideline, Maddox shoved him out of bounds then got right in his face, jabbering away. On the next play, Rahming beat Maddox on a quick slant but the ball went right through his hands and hit him in the facemask. Maddox celebrated and talked trash as though he just made a play, when in reality he was beat--again. That's the moment when i posted the OP in this thread. What Maddox did wasn't celebrating and showing enthusiasm, it was being a punk. If you have had the kind of season Maddox has had, you keep your mouth shut and try to do your job. If you do make a play, as he did on just one occasion last week, celebrate all you want. But don't trash talk the opposing player when you've been on the ass end of so many big completions all season, and when he;s having his way with you at the moment, and when the other team is picking on you because they know you're weak. When I see that kind of stuff, in any game, out of any player, it pisses me off. Guys celebrating good plays has never bothered me, never will bother me. Trash talking doesn't bother me much if it's in the right context. But talking trash without backing it up has always bothered me. Shut your mouth and try to make a play. If and when you do make that play, celebrate it any way you want.
Now my question to you, and the other like-minded pollyannas who have surfaced in this thread: Now that I've given you a detailed explanation of why and when i posted that OP, do you really disagree with me? Advance warning: your answers will say a lot about the kind of people you are.

So would you talk trash to a guy who stole the ball from you without fouling 5 straight possessions when you brought it up court?Did I respond to any post you made? Any? I haven't. I was responding to someone else then made a general comment and was careful not to use talking trash but celebrating.
Now I will make a comment to you because you directed one to me, I've spent my life playing sports as well and guys need to find any edge they can. I played a certain way on the basketball court and walked the line of dirty and competitive because i wasnt as athletic as other guys. My take is its tough to play college football at this level and when you are undersized like Maddox you need a nasty edge. The kid is a great teammate and is constantly doing things for kids and the community when not playing. I am ok with a little shit talking especially since he's been hearing it from others all year. We won 56-14 yesterday I think bitching about Maddox is silly.
Can anyone of you damn whiners and complziners doi better.
As I said before tell gun he us a bum to his face then take ghghis place, other wise shut up and enjoy the win.
They have always been entertainment. And as long as people tune in to watch the showboating garbage will continue. Unfortunately you are correct these major pro "sports" are now more like entertainment than sport. Can't imagine who would be entertained by these morons dancing around like they just made the greatest play in the history of the sport every time they break up a pass play but oh well
Let me guess, you're white. Am I right?
