Malik Davis, Pitt in final 7

Boston College WAS at the top of his list . . . but apparently he did his due diligence on Addazio (though you'd think Mr. We'regonnaruntheball would be somewhat appealing to a running back).

Videos are hard to gauge, since no one touches him and he is running through Swiss-cheese defenses in each highlight. It shows his speed though, but honestly, the highlights look like they are playing flag football. If the offer came from watching him at camp against peers, and busting through tackles that would be a better indicator. Durability would be a factor also.

Agree that these videos are almost always hard to read. You don't know the level of competition and very play is a TD (it is a highlight reel after all).

All that aside, I did like what I saw. Kid seems to have pretty good high end speed. Again, without knowing the competition it's a little hard to gauge, but one thing I look for; when a kid blows through a gaping hole and is being chased from behind are the defends gaining ground on the RB before he scores or his he pulling away. On most of the runs I saw, this kid was pulling away from everyone. Secondly, he seemed to have a pretty quick jump step and lateral explosion. Made a few guys miss, which is pretty critical as you move up a level. Very, very few backs have so much speed that they can simply outrun defenders at the D1 level. You need to either make defenders miss (or run them over if you're a big back).

Based on that little bit of film, I'd say this kid looks pretty interesting.

Good offer list as well. Seemed to come outta nowhere right? Hope he is high on us.

True you do look at the speed (which is very impressive) and really the bottom line from the reels, plus you look at who's offered. You have to trust the coaches. But every one of our guys looked good on highlight reels, especially against poor defenses. At least we have mutual interest. We seem to be stacked at RB, how many are we going to take after Sibley?
