Malik Zaire

If Pitt did take both then that would be three extra scholarships needed since Bo Schneider will earn one in the spring. First I'm hoping Pitt can bring in 25 freshmen recruits. Pitt will have 22 to give once Conner declares, so finding six more seems tough. Zaire would be first on my list and there is no question the kid is leaving ND to play elsewhere for one season.

Ummmm so? Improving your team is step one

I broke it all down in another thread. Getting to 23 (not including Schneider or Clark) won't be difficult.

He was close to Pitt back in the Chryst days, would hope that Narduzzi sends out a feeler. I would think with hin, Pitt would be the favorite to win our division.

More importantly, Canada recruited Zaire when Matt was at Wisconsin. Hopefully there is a sit down and film of this season's offense is shown.

Find a De, Cb, Dt first...
DT will be fine we already have them on the team they just need some seasoning. Camp and Watts were big time recruits. Taleni has looked pretty good.
DE is a concern expect hendrix to take price's role but we still need to find another one.
CB see DT lots of highly recruited kids and a chance to add a few more this year. They will be improved next year and be good in 2018. I think the coaches have to have a idea how good Mcvittie is right now. If he isn't ready to be a very good QB in 2017 then I would love to see them land Zaire, he could really do somethings in this offense.

Notre Dame fan here. If Pitt gets Zaire, you will be getting a guy who can be a great quarterback. The kid started against LSU in Notre Dame's bowl game at the end of the 2014 season. He was named MVP for the game. He started the first game of the 2015 season against Texas. He went 19-22 for 313 yards and 3 touchdowns. Then the poor kid broke his ankle the very next game and could never regain the job from Kizer. Pitt fans will be very happy if he is behind center next year.

Nice find and share.

UF has Del Rio coming back with 2 more years to play, so they wouldn't make a ton of sense if he is looking for an easy path to starting. MSU has Damion Terry returning, but obviously he doesn't have an overwhelming grip on that job and they had an awful season. Wisconsin has Hornibrook coming back, which would probably make him hard to beat out considering his PT this year and the fact sitting him a year might ruin his standing and potential.

Got to really like our inclusion and chance on that list.

Agreed. It would be a potential huge pick up for Pitt. Not 100% assured to work, but a great option to give MacVittie another year to learn and hopefully give us immediately better QB play than a 2nd year MacVittie could provide.

I was literally just checking out the Florida QB situation as you posted this. I have to agree.
With all due respect to MacV.... if Pitt was able to land Zaire, I would be pumped

Agreed on taking him.

UF only makes sense if he has supreme confidence and has competing on a big stage as his major goal. He could place the chance to compete for the SEC Championship and a playoff spot more important than a much, much easier path to starting, but that seems doubtful in a last year of eligibility situation.

Also, he would have big numbers at Pitt. At Florida, he will not have the same numbers against all those defenses... even if he started game one, which he probably wouldnt

Imagine Canada's O, if he's here, could be a huge selling point! Dude made Jacoby Brissett(sp?) and Peterman look like studs.

Zaire would be absolutely perfect here. Just one year, with his skill set, MacVittie another year to learn where he will actually be the backup with no redshirt to worry about. I'd be going after Zaire hard.

Agree and they could make a point to get MacVittie a series or two every game. That gives him some actual game experience before he is named the full time starter. Would be a ideal situation.

Do you realize Hornibrook isn't UW primary QB any more? They have been playing Bart (freaking) Houston over him.

Hornibrook has been injured since the Michigan game and has be playing scarcely that's the reason Bart has been playing so much

He's been "injured" since throwing 3 picks in that game. If he's injured instead of "injured" he wouldn't be playing at all.

Ironically I think it will eventually boil down to Pitt or Wisconsin.

Pittsburghsportsnow doesn't seem as high on Zaire as we do. Their reasoning is a bit faulty given MacVittie will be a RS FR and Schneider a RS SO... If Zaire came and started, I see no issue with either waiting another year... They'd have 3 and 2 years of eligibility remaining after Zaire is gone.

I honestly believe that if Pitt pushes hard enough, they'll get him. He's best suited to Pitt's current offense of the teams trying to lure him in.

I can't see Wisconsin, their QB is a fan favorite and only a freshman and led them to a number 5 ranking.

I mean I can't freggin imagine if TMac played this year and led us to a number 5 ranking then we got a grad transfer the next year. Just think of that.

I'll go with the coaches over bloggers when it comes to talent evaluation and a player's ability to help the team.

Zaire would start at Wisconsin over their freshman QB. This year has nothing to do with next year. Coaches ask themselves a simple question, if I take on this player, will it make my team better next year? Zaire gave PC consideration coming out of HS.

Same goes for us, Narduzzi is going after another QB because he feels that QB gives us a better chance to win games next year over Tmac. I know this board is high on McVittie, he played one year of HS ball at QB, there is going to be some growing pains with him. The coaches have watched him all year. Fast forward to now, if Narduzzi is chasing after another QB to play one year, that is telling. Dinucchi transferring out would not surprise me.
