Matt Canada is Awful

This game is getting very physical. Nice to see hard hitting football back, even if for a moment.

Matt Canada finally calls and NFL caliber drive and the offense actually looked good.

The best offense I have ever seen in Pittsburgh was coordinated by Matt Canada (2016 Pitt)

I have trouble reconciling that with that I’ve seen on Sundays the last couple years.

I know it’s the NFL and you can’t take advantage of so many players that don’t play assignment football. But just the general construct of the offense is just so different than what I expected, especially with a mobile QB.

(Sunday gave me some hope, but I’m not expecting it to be linear improvement)

I just saw a stat that during the steelers win over the Browns they didn't have a single snap inside the Browns 30 yard line and still got the W. That is some good OCing

Also has a team ever been down entering into the 4th quarter, had a total of -7 yards of offense for the quarter and won?

steelers are facing the most 8/9 man fronts in the league, teams know our tendencies. simply running a few play actions will help but have to be much more sophisticated than that and i dont think we can.

would be nice to run some spread formations but we are limited with Dionte out.. just bringing in another TE to block or going to a jumbo package only limits our options and gives defenses even fewer things to worry about than just stopping our run..

what hurts is how bad our interior line is. we knew Moore would be awful and chuks was mediocre at best but with a strong interior, we'd be ok. our center is putrid as is our guard play. that's surprising and debilitating.

I thought our interior was bad but I watched a nice breakdown that changed my mind a little. Yinz Know Ball podcast had a 20 minute YouTube clip of our run plays vs the Raiders. Most of our problems are just running 2 tight end sets into loaded boxes. The guards and tackles are blocking better than you'd think watching live. Mason Cole gets blown up too often and Freiermuth can't run block at all, but I'd say Canada is 75 percent of the problem with the run game.
