Maybe a real chance here

They already spoke to him once, both Capel and O'toole. This is the 2nd time.

Interest is mutual and high.

He is from Yonkers, New York. Priority recruit.
I could see it coming down to us and St. Johns. He looks pretty good.

I would think we have a decent chance but a 5 from a bad A10 team isnt going to change much. Looks like a slight upgrade over Coulibaly

He’s got pretty similar production to Tre Mitchell.
Lol. Exactly what chagg said. How can you slobber over Mitchell for months then not want Mitchell lite?

He's got legit interest coming. Michigan, Oklahoma, Marquette, Georgetown, St. John's, West Virginia, Ohio State, etc... He is high on us with mutual interest, but this is far from being done between us and St. Johns, yet. Expect more schools to come in.

His rebound percentages are OR-15 / DR-28. Those percentages on offense and defense, ( in a far inferior league), are better than Justin Champagnie. He's a legit 6'11 with a huge wingspan. He's also from New York and plays with toughness and is physical.

This is a quality get with upside. A steal. Pair him with Reid and Champ and we have an intimidating frontcourt with massive size and rebound potential.

He's like 10x more athletic than Coulibaly and also at least 2 inches taller.
There’s always gonna be a set of people who aren’t happy unless we get the Timberlakes of the portal. For as negative as Gary has been at least his targeted guys are reasonable given where the program is at the moment.

I didn't say I wouldn't want him. I said several times I wished we'd get Kene back because for crying out loud. I have my doubts we'll land anyone better than Kene. We have no one.

For a P6 player, yes he does. But he is better than Brown and Max, which I know doesnt say much. He would he the best 5 on our team right now.
Luckily next season doesn’t start tomorrow and they have plenty of time to evaluate and recruit better 5’s with a pretty big prospect in Reid lurking.

Impressive reel. There are 4 highlights around the :50 to 1:10 mark where he scores baskets against Osun Osunniyi, who was one of the 2 or 3 best defensive players in the A10. He physically overpowered Osun on a few of those, in fact. Consider me impressed.

Zag updated the list with more schools for Soriano.

Virginia, Creighton, VCU, Virginia Tech, Miami, South Carolina, Providence also added to the schools above.

He's a stepinac kid where O'toole went to school, same school as RJ Davis. I also find it interesting Illinois recruited him the first time around and reportedly offered and Soriano played with the Dominican National Team. That's interesting for 2 reasons. First, Ron Ramon also played for the Dominican Republic. And second, Orlando Antigua does really well landing these types of players and Illinois is not on this list yet and Antigua is also Dominican.

Soriano turned down Illinois and South Carolina for Fordham the first time. Fordham is in the Bronx, New York. Location obviously played a factor.

Did you watch the kid play to form this opinion?

I watched him play a few times and SMF is pretty much wrong. Fordham is horrible but Soriano played hard every time I saw him and has some skills. He’s not a guy who will wow anyone with his ability on the offensive end, but he’s a strong rebounder and a definite step above Coulibaly in my opinion.
