  • 0 for 10 from field.
  • 3 points.
  • ZERO assists.
  • 4 turn-overs.
  • 1 foul against... not enough energy to even try hard enough to generate a foul?
This kid was scoring 20 and 30 points per game last year, has an extra year of maturity and growth in the program, and is routinely putting in crap efforts like this?

This back-court is a disaster and a disgrace. If they were delivering 1/2 of the performance that they did last year, this team would be much better. This CANNOT just be that the rest of the league has figured them out. Any of you wizened hoops observers: Thoughts?

Capel has to bear some blame for this. He presents a great look and attitude. But it is getting discouraging to watch the results on the floor. Yes, he inherited a sh*t show... and that can't be overlooked. But in terms of the basics - seeing growth as a team, progress in individual players, obviously clever coaching strategy going into games... and adjustments during games.

Disappointed.

Yea at this point i think Capel is going to take a step back and do a roster evaluation at the end of the season. I will not be disappointed at all if one of either X or Trey aren’t back next season. I think there is a good possibility that one or the other leaves.

I’ll be very disappointed .

having a bad game isn’t a reason to give up on talented players

what a bunch of pansies you guys are

At least 1 of Johnson, McGowens, Toney, and Champagnie wont be back. Maybe 2. This is almost a given. When the going gets tough, kids bail. Its just the way it is now.

As for Johnson and McGowens, they went from what some thought might be one of the best backcourts in the league in the preseason to arguably the worst. I'm not sure they're the worst backcourt in the league but you can make a case for them. Without Cole Anthony, UNC's was clearly worse.

Souf,
"A bad game"??

Dude, this back court has been terrible this year! They were the talk of the ACC last season and delivered memorable games with regularity.

This year, I don't think either of the starting guards would start on another ACC team. For months now... they take turns absolutely STINKING, occasionally BOTH stinking, and virtually NEVER both playing well.

This is NOT a "wait 'n see, we'll get better, they'll grow through this..." thing. These players have utterly collapsed this season... and there's no obvious remedy in sight.

If that's being a pansy of a fan, color me milquetoast and clad in pink...

With Cole Anthony back
Unc is 0-6
Let me repeat 0-6 and will be big dogs to Louisville

At least you own it

trey has a bad game - but he’s a talented player

Just step away from the keyboard .
It’s pretty clear watching sports is too stressful for you

Yea this is more then just a few bad games this is a consistent pattern with X and Trey. It just does not seem to be getting better with either of them. Capel has benched X a bunch of times and he just doesn’t seem to getting through to either of these guys. It just seems like it’s headed for a change of scenery with at least one of these guys. I doubt both will be back and I think at least one leaves.

Who is playing well right now?

the whole team has been bad with plenty of blame to go around .

And they are a better team having a Top 5 pick. I'm sorry if you feel otherwise. They almost beat Duke and UNC. They would most likely run us out of the building. In fact, we'll probably end up playing them in Greensboro. Cole with have 30

Here's a fun question. Would you rather play UNC with Cole Anthony or without him?
Unc is going to finish the season with a losing record

they’ve lost to bc, nd, and wake forest with him

weirdly on a historically bad team - which will likely be the second losing season at unc in 58 years , and first in Roy’s career -
1 player isn’t enough

Cool.

Now answer the question please. You have 1 game vs UNC. Do you want Cole Anthony to play against you or not?

Why the eff wouldn’t they be? This is just stupid speculation. Again, everything is not fantasy sports. They have last 3 games in a row. Oh what a horrible thing.

Because everyone transfers. Its college basketball. There were 1000 transfers last year

So to be clear, you would rather play UNC WITH Cole Anthony than without him?
Why don't you grow up. He answered your stupid question. You can't comprehend anything but what is in your fantasy. And who do you think you are to dmeand anything of another poster. Just because you lead the world in bad and anti PITT posts? No matter what, your true and only hero, slime miller ain't coming to coach. Capel was right about ugly fans like you and Heather was right in her Coaching choice. No slimemiller no matter how many thousands of anti Pitt posts you create. Go to your other loves site and help the pedo fans cry away their loss last night.

I agree with all you say. Both guards are ball hogs and playing like s**t

Volleyball University.

We cant seem to manage anything else??

That's a sad story.

Fire or force coaches out bring in worse coaches, fire more coaches bring in others who don't appear to be clicking, be a good fit, or recruit well.

The story continues to repeat itself over and over again. This shouldn't be difficult to fix with money and good hiring decisions!

X might bolt to play for pay, but there is > 0% chance any of these guys transfers to have to sit out a year to play college ball somewhere else.

That would be very dumb. Its difficult to make one of the better Euro leagues because they limit Americans. None of the following former Pitt guards played significant time in good Euro leagues:

Page
Krauser
Fields
Ramon (played in South America for less $)
Gibbs

Is Johnson better than all those guys? If he leaves, I think he winds up in a middle tier or lower tier Euro league

I dont think hes good enough for Euro leagues. The kid CANT shoot,so what's he bring to a team?X needs to work at his weaknesses, shooting ,and work on his Bball IQ

He and a few others in addition to attention and focus on whats happening in front of them.

Guys transfer because either they are not playing or because they think they could play on a better team. If your starters are playing 38 minutes per game despite shooting 20%, what would be their reason for leaving? They can't be unhappy with their playing time, and they shouldn't think they were going to get the same opportunity on a good team shooting the way they do.

The shooting he can fix and do so really in one off season but the Bball IQ may take alittle longer but it doesn't have to he would have to change his whole thought process of I have to score for us to win that was true the first season it's no longer true now and he really has to change his whole mindset. If he does that and starts thinking let me get my guys in the game and make them better that's how he will get better. That's the PG job is to make his teammates better by getting them the ball at right time and make teams pay if they play off him period.

The shooting wasn't fixed after the first off-season. What makes you think it will improve after another?

Because shooting is repetition and muscle memory. When I played I was able to fix my shot and if I can do it anybody can do it so that's fixable but like I said IQ you have to build on and change your mindset that can be a whole lot harder because guys ego and some think I don't have to change they do and that's all ego you see some guys think they arrived already and when you think that way you're no longer learning meaning you already are at your highest level. I hope answers your question but that's just IMO.

I am as confident as you are in your belief that UNC is a better team without Cole Anthony. You are the only person in America that feels that way. Of course, you are an idiot so that's understandable.
At least you two guys with your childish arguing are leaving the players alone. Oh, and thanks for the entertainment.

Yeah UNC sucks with Cole Anthony.
They were having troubles before he got hurt

I didn’t get to watch the game last night, but did get to see Capel’s post game presser. He plainly stated that HE has to win some recruiting battles. His word. So go do your job coach.
