Mea Culpa on Matt Canada. He's been the best Pitt OC in decades.

I was wary of the Matt Canada hire.

But no more.

He's shown an amazing ability to use the strengths he has, to mix things up enough to exploit the opposition weaknesses, and to take risks when warranted.

Pitt is average over 37 points per game. This with a very inexperienced and lacking receiver corp.

Pitt has scored at least 28 points in every single game.

Pitt has the offense to be a 9-1 team right now. And with simply average DB play this year, Pitt WOULD be 9-1.

When the defense has the players that Narduzzi wants, look out. Because as long as Matt Canada is here, Pitt's offense is going to score plenty of points.

I'm hopeful he sticks around for a while. I could see teams in the MAC/AAC/CUSA interviewing him for openings. He's been nothing short of great. Can you imagine what our record would be this year with this D and with Chaney as OC?

Pitt is going to have to give him a large raise. Hopefully, he'll decide to stick around a few years until a good HC opportunity comes his way.

WE HAVE TO KEEP CANADA. I would guess he is going to have some major suitors this offseason. If Pitt steps up and pays him, we can conclude that Pitt is no longer being cheap. But if he leaves its same old Pitt.

IF he goes for a HC job there isn't much you can do. I agree he might get some offers as a HC this offseason. You just hope he waits till its a top level mac or lower level P5 opening and doesn't just take a HC gig anywhere. But this offseason to me the bigger threat is a program like LSU offering him big bucks to be OC. That's the case where Pitt has to step up and match the offer. IF he chooses to leave anyhow that's all you can do, but Pitt needs to at least equal what any P 5 school is willing to offer. We also might be able to pay him what some MAC schools will pay for a HC.

Buying a cold one for your Lair comrades at the next game would be fine by me! Just kidding as there was a lot of discussion back and forth when MC was hired. He has a good mind for an OC. Pay up PITT

His big raise came last year and he's still being paid by NCSt through next season (assuming Pitt isn't paying more).

-Matt Canada rejected Tennessee already. As noted I can't wait to see Chris Clark and Charles Reeves in this offense the way we use TE's. Throw in a QB with 4.5 Speed and Paris Ford at WR or in the Slot, we could break some records here.

Do pro & D1 sports teams have succession plans for coaching staffs??
Is Canada "coaching " someone up to replace him if it comes to that.
I'm mostly amazed when coaches leave and its a big scramble to the outside to find someone appropriate. Dixon was a perfect example of a guy in a spot for years.
You would think after all those years he'd have an asst ready to grab the open job.
Businesses are great at this so why not pro and college D1 sports.
