So thinking about going to Miami... I found an old Pitt script charm for a necklace my dad bought me as a child, during the bye week after ND I finally went to get a chain for it and it hasn't left my neck since, also been to the past 4 games in person and we know the outcomes to those games. Already got Charlotte booked... but I'm feeling uneasy about not going to Miami now do to my feeling about this necklace haha. Found a easy flight on Sat morning and a flight back same night .... anyone have any experience or tips from getting to Ft. Lauderdale airport to the stadium or what to do from arrival time of like 10am till kickoff? I see it's only 14 miles and like a 20 minute drive but only being 30 never flown alone and and never been to that area before. Trying to maybe get some advice to ease the feeling so I have no hesitation to fly down hahah.

Here is some advice.

Take the cost of this trip and donate it to Pitt athletics.

Stay home and watch the game with family and friends.

And stop worrying about a f#$king necklace

I'm there with you. I let my premium subscription run out after the UNC game since I was so disgusted (didn't fix the expired credit card), telling myself I would renew if/when they won the Coastal. Of course, they've been playing so well now, I feel like I'll jinx them if I renew. Sorry @Chris Peak ...i'll renew after the ACC Championship game.

Book that flight and head to the game. Hard Rock Stadium is kind of half way between Fort Lauderdale and Miami. I'm staying in SOBE, and it is about a $40 Uber ride to the stadium. If you arrive in FTL by noon, you will have plenty of time. There is virtually nothing around Hard Rock Stadium...so be sure to eat/drink prior to arriving. Uber/Lyft are your best bets in and out...although you likely could also do SuperShuttle from FTL. I preferred the Orange Bowl to Hard Rock...but there really is not much near either place. It is an easy trip...and will be sweet to see the Panthers take it to the Canes in their house this year. Hail to Pitt!

14 miles doesn’t seem that far to walk if you are only 30...? Seems sensible.

My tradition is to wear Pitt polos or such to work on fridays before games.

Stopped that practice out of discouragement after the hideous NC and then UCF losses. Things looked so hopeless.

Since then, of course, we played markedly better. Yeah we had the ND loss in there but that is different "shirt luck" ... white and black striped shirt luck specifically.

For the rest, I firmly believe my Friday Shirt Boycott is the main contributing factor :D

Thanks for the info, just curious because flight would arrive like 930ish and do due flying back after the game, I didn't have any idea what to do besides hang at the airport if there isn't anything around.

Jsr862,
Practical answer ( and what your mom would say) is don’t go. But I know better and believe in karma and unnatural sources that change destinies. If you don’t believe me— note 3 of the Steeler Super Bowl wins we’re a direct result of me sticking to my game day superstitions.
Whether you want to believe me or not— YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN— to decide Pitt’s destiny. You know that wearing your magic necklace while attending the games in person was the reason Pitt won. Don’t tell me you did’nt gently rub the necklace ( like rosary beads) when Pitt was behind in each of the 4 games. Don’t let the unbelievers distract you from the right thing to do. What I can tell you is if you don’t go all of the magic will be gone ( college football gods are a fickle bunch) and never again will you control Pitt’s fate.
You owe this to all Pitt fans who have suffered being Pitted over the years. Think about, after Miami you and your necklace will lead Pitt past Clemson and then crush WVU in the Peach Bowl. How can you let this moment pass?
I am counting on you. Don’t worry about getting to Hardrock early with nothing to do. If you tell me you are going I will start a “go fund me” and get you some hookers to pass the time!

FYI - there was a Free Parking Lot Area about a mile from Hard Rock Stadium. I was shocked when we came upon it. A lot of cars were parking there and I had no issues.

Wish >I could go, but not feasible for me . flown into FLL airport many times...about 5 miles from the airport is the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel.. really nice place with outdoor shops casino and restaurants. easy uber from airport...about 20 minutes or so to the stadium...enjoy and H2P!

Go and be happy. You’ll see sun, good looking woman and have a great experience.

I would stay the night, eat at a great Cuban restaurant in Brickell or dinner in south beach and stay somewhere reasonable. I think I stay at aloft in brickell and is only around 120 a night.
