Found this clip on youtube. Ending of the Michigan vs. Mich State game from inside a bar in Ann Arbor. Support evenly divided between both teams. Bypass the first minute. Watch the reaction from the Michigan fan in the lower right corner of the screen. He's so pissed off he almost leaves without paying the bill. So funny!

I watched the Pitt - MSU game at Hockeytown Restaurant in Detroit and it was awesome.

Not sure if it's still there, but I recall a bar along the highway that was located about half way between the two schools that had a line down the middle and was painted half and half on the outside.

I think that bunch is a little more symbiotic than we're used to.

Every Michigan fan has a lot of MSU friends and vice versa. It's an intense rivalry but not necessarily a hateful one, mostly because until recently Michigan has dominated it historically, and the Michigan program never really felt threatened by MSU. I think Michigan fans have the perception now that with Harbaugh they will regain the upper hand in the rivalry, so they can live with the down years under RichRod and Hoke.

What you won't see is a lot of Michigan and Ohio State fans in the same bar at the same time, or a bar painted half scarlet/grey and half maize/blue. Now that's a hateful rivalry and a true culture clash.

You should have watched some Pitt-Penn State games at the Windber VFW in the 70s and 80s. Bar split down the middle and F-bombs dropping everywhere. It was really intense.
