Rumored from a couple different places to have mutual interest in the Pitt OC position. He will not be retained at Maryland.

How would you feel?

Ace recruiter. Avg coach.

I say pull the trigger and offer the guy after the bowl.

I feel like this is a lot of smoke... I really don't believe Duzz has even started reviewing candidates yet.

I do however like the idea of hiring him...

Absolutely not. Guy had multiple off the field issues at New Mexico, including age/sex discrimination suits, assaulting an assistant coach, and a DWI incident involving his son who was on the team.

Also maybe the worst record of any coach in the history of college football (3-31), and if Narduzzi ever left there would almost certainly be idiots out there that would want to promote him.

I think it is Salem's to lose, and why there has not been much talk until after the Bowl game, and Coach pat sees how Salem does?

In any event, I think Coach Narduzzi is wise to wait a tad longer, because so many New Coaches have taken over, and Staffers are still coming and going? Just a guess and hunch, but Coach Pat may be waiting to see what NFL's OC come available too in one week more?

The uptick in recruiting he would provide in the DC metro area would be nice for sure. I'm just wondering how good of a coach he is. As has already been mentioned on this thread, he failed miserably as a coach at new mexico. Not to mention the off the field issues already mentioned, but that was as a head coach. I haven't heard anything bad about him as an oc, but not anything really good either. I guess we would have to trust in the duzz on this one. H2P

great recruiter but do not see him as a fit with narduzzi since he wants ground and pound.

His coaching resume sucks by any measure. You don't base a coordinator hire on recruiting ability. That's a critical job that needs the best coach you can find.

I have to agree. Reading over his coaching resume, and I was looking to like the guy, I just cant other than he has 4 kids, although that is probably not a good thing either for a guy that should be living in his office for months and then beating the recruiting trail. His record seems horrible and his discretions arent very good either. His claim to fame seems to be recruiting and that Ron Zook liked him.
I am sure he probably is a good coach overall, but I think this one has too many red flags. We arent Penn State, we are better than that!

What about as Co-OC/passing game coordinator? Make Salem the other Co-OC and let him call plays. That would be a pretty formidable recruiting tandem. We really need to upgrade offensive recruiting.

Well, another thing is the guy was brought up and played linebacker, and coached defense until 2005. I dont think he is even an offense kinda guy. I think he was thrust into that position so they could use his recruiting.
I think as a position coach fine, or if Walt Harris was our head coach, then ok too since we have a offense guy leading the way. But Narduzzi has the D and we really need an OC, not just a figure head guy

Absolutely NOT. Guy is a loser. Hire Eric Kasperowicz to be OC before this guy.

Was thinking the same thing.
Ok if it's a dc because of Narduzzis background, but I want the best trait of an OC for this team to be game planning and calling, not recruiting.

The fact that he was closely associated with a loser like the Zooker is strike 1 against him. To me that's a lot worse than his off field issues or even his beyond-putrid head coaching record. We are finally trying to change decades of football irrelevance and mediocrity. No losers need apply.

He can go recruit for someone else.
