Should Miles choose Pitt this would be his Freshmen Year Challenge, pretty good company! For those not familiar with feet and yards, a true mile is 1760 yards!

I already know the slogan should Sanders switch to Pitt???? "Time To Run Miles At Pitt!"

Pitt freshman running back Qadree Ollison's 859 rushing yards put him on pace to become the program's fifth freshman to rush for 1,000 yards in a season. The others:
Pitt Freshmen Player Year Yards

Miles Sanders 2016 ?????

Dion Lewis 2009 1,799 (Over A Mile):D

Tony Dorsett 1973 1,686 :p

LeSean McCoy 2007 1,328:)

Curvin Richards 1988 1,228;)

Qadree Ollison's 2015 859*

Not really sure why this kid is even considering following through on his plans for PSU. This really seems like a no brainer if you look at it from a realistic perspective. Unless there are some special conditions that are in place for him to go to PSU, why would making this decision be so difficult. Let's put this in simple terms.
1. PSU clearly has a super star freshman running back that is embedded and going to be there for the next 2 years. Replacing him will require a ton of luck and I'm not sure what the back ups look like, but it doesn't appear to be a good path to early playing time.
2. Pitt is building a powerful offensive line that will be extremely good and runs a great offense for a strong running back.
3. Pitt has a solid backfield with several good backs but does not have a super star on the team.
4. Pitt also has a reputation of excellent RB going into the NFL.
5. Go to Pitt and start from day one. Become one of the great Pitt RB's to lead the Panthers and be a home town super star. Boyd and Conner both gone and the stage is open for this team to have a ton of young blood as the face of the program.
6. If the 412 kids do make a committment to Pitt, along with the Narduzzi factor, this could be the class that takes Pitt back to the "Glory Days" and wins the next National Championship for the Burg. Be the leader of the pack and bring home the crown.
Somebody please tell me why this is such a difficult decision for this kid. Wow

Maybe he does not want to go to a city school. Maybe the huge Big 10 crowds at most of the schools is something he wants. Maybe Pitt does not offer his major. Decisions for these kids is not totally football related. Have to look at the whole package

George Costanza once said, "its not a lie, if you believe it." This is the code that PoSU has been living for decades. Paterno believed his lies and preached them. The coaches believed them, the players believed them, the fans believed them, and they convince the recruits to believe them. They convince the kids about 110K. They convince the kids that they are a football power just like OSU, Alabama, Oklahoma. They convince them they "do things the right way" unlike other programs. So once they convince them about that, they convince them they will play. Once they convince you, you are brainwashed and doomed to follow the cult the rest of your life and you end up walking around like a closed minded drooling zombie with a cardboard cutout of your god.

I would like to get sanders but I am not ready to anoint him the starter, IF he commits here. First off, we have a freshman running back that will most likely get over 1000 yards.. Secondly, I am not ready to give up on Hall yet either. My man hit the proverbial freshman WALL like Duzzi says and was battling concussion symptoms.. James I am discouraged about so yeah, let's just keep him as the 3rd option here.

So if we get sanders, and JC goes pro of course, we automatically give him 20+ carries a game, relegating Ollison to back up, Hall to mop up, james out of picture, and Ibrahim as irrelevant? Think you guys are over estimating this guy..

Maybe Hall and Sanders are both waiting to see what the other does, if Hall commits to Pitt Sanders won't and if Sanders commits to Pitt Hall won't , who is going to make the first move? So if I'm one of these guys and I want to stay home I would want to jump on committing to Pitt right away instead of letting the other decide where I'm going

Who is Hall? I am talking about the running back on our team already.. Is there another Hall in the mix? Are you talking about Hill? The dude that is going to msu?

And maybe he committed to the DOMINATOR'S bullsh!t before his junior year and can now see a clear difference between Narduzzi and James from State College. And maybe seeing what Barkley is doing has him wanting o play the same lead role at Pitt.

No question Hall and Ollison are good and will get better. Sanders has the stuff to be not good but GREAT.

Exactly. Our RB's have been OK this year. None are the home run, take it to the house, big play threat a running team needs to score!
Ollison could be a great short yardage, third down back if he learns how to block consistently. James and Hall are the type of RB's every successful team needs in the stable in case of injury or to give your premiere back a rest.
But Sanders has the stuff to make teams fear our running game, a guy who can hit a crease and end up with a TD. None of our current backs have that ability.

Ollison is a GOOD back, not a GREAT back. Sanders will be a GREAT back.

Sorry.... Though Ollison is the best we have right now, he isn't as good as Sanders will be.

It's kind of like the Bennett situation when James Connor came in. Connor was clearly better, and Bennett was relegated to backup. That's Ollison's fate too, if we land Sanders.

Another comparison is what happened when Shady came in. Larod Stephens-Howling was relegated to backup. That was just a tough break for LSH - but it was clear that Shady was better.

sanders would start over Ollison. Its that simple. I'm not ready to give up on Hall either, but has he broke one tackle this year?

Not sure, with all the coaching comments and praise for him early in the season, I was expecting more. Concussion set him back big time and duzz keeps talking about him hitting the freshman wall. In all fairness to him, he did tear his knee last year and should be redshirting this year. JC and Ibrahim's injuries really screwed him out of a year..

I wonder what kind of difference Ibrahim would have made this year if healthy. He showed some flashes in spots, and would he have been able to pick up more slack when JC went down? Would have been nice to find that out. The RB stable seems crowded here. I know Ollison and James have been getting some criticism for on the field performance, and Hall we just have a very limited sample on him as well. I can't say never for Sanders, but it sure would be nice to get him as he is a skilled football player. Having healthy competition at every position ultimately makes your team better, but as I look at the recruiting class it seems we have more need at other positions.

Yes, its a shame that Ibrahim went down with that injury. He would've been first man up when JC got hurt. I think he would've had a really good season.

Moving him to receiver is an interesting idea. But unless Sanders commits to Pitt, I can see him staying at RB and competing for the starting job next year.

BTW, on Hill, I heard that Narduzzi is recruiting him to play LB.

Whatever, Miles chooses will be Ok with me, the same Whitehead did last year, Henry the year before, and Good Luck to all them at their Schools & Programs of choice!

Like Coach Pat Said, Pitt will coach up the Players that come to Pitt, and Franklin or Dana will do the same with those they Recruit!

Good posts and very accurate in some cases and were always attacking other Universities and claiming only Penn State was following all the Rules and LAws, but that turned out to be a Great Nittany Lie!

Well, at least they are in Compliance and have a Director of Ethics finally and Franklin is under the College President, Athletic Director, and Athletic Integrity Officer?

What will be, will be, and good luck to all! Still would love to see Miles run Miles at Pitt! Just my view not gospel!

Excellent Post, spot on as far as I am concern!

"#99HUGHgreen, post: 527357, member: This seems to make a lot of sense as he is quick and he has shown he can catch. Plus, the team can always use some more depth at that position.
Peterman at QB will be even better next year with more Wideouts knowing the System now too.

he is not doing anything on the field and I gave reasons why. what the hell are we even talking about..

PSU has a better looking future on the OL than Pitt. The Duzz needs to step up the OL recruiting in a big way. We had 2 commits last year and one currently slated on the OL (Unless Hargrove moves).

They aren't exactly "can't miss" guys either.

Good point, Pitt has to do way better in Recruiting and on the OL too.

Yet, the OL the last 2 years under Franklin & Staff coaching has been a big problem for Penn State too? Coaching Matters Once You Get The Recruits!

Splitting carries with Barkley means fresh legs, which the NFL likes. Miles already splits with the other back at Woodland Hills.
Also, maybe he just feels like PSU is a better fit overall?

I agree, but others know far more than me on recruiting, is seldom follow it, just a few gems of players, like I followed Barkley last year and predicted big things from him this year, and all of sudden, PSU BWI Boards are stunned they never saw it?

Whitehead was approached all year long last year, but stayed with Pitt as others left for Penn State the last weeks. Like you say, some Recruits just feel it is right fit and stick with it! Pitt needs Sanders more than Penn State though, in my view!
