so i finished most other shows, 1923, landman, tulsa king so this is my next venture. im not getting any more damn subscriptions and not going back to getthing hbo or whatever it's called now so pretty much this is it..

Anyone have any thoughts? I just finished E 2, like it so far. Hardy is a great actor, i like him.. So far it's Ok, i hate the damn thick British accents though, i can hardly tell what the hell they are saying. i almost need sub titles but apparently they dont make english subtitles for english..

On a side note, the bst thing to come out of british culture is them Dropping the C word in every vernacular, it's fantastic. a trend that needs to happen on this side of the ocean.

Helen Mirran plays this like very evil lady which is weird. but so far, so good.. anyone else?

Uh, there is a thing called closed captioning...

I use it all the time on airplanes.

I’m wanting to watch Mobland but haven’t started yet. I like Hardy and I loved Mirran in 1923. She was fantastic. She should get an Emmy for it. What a strong character! But the girl who played Alex should win something. I mean, what that girl went through to make the journey from England to Montana? She was a very good actress and I think a relative unknown too. I didn’t find her that hot though. Now her husband Spencer Dutton on the other hand? That guy is dreamy.

Now, the girl who played Jack Dutton’s wife? She might be one of the most beautiful girls I’ve ever seen. Is she just as pretty in Landman? I haven’t seen that one yet. I haven’t made it out of the first episode.

As far as the use of the C word…yeah my 2 decade obsession with English football has made the word a lot less impactful for me. Game of Thrones did it too.

And as far as subtitles…I needed them for Peaky Blinders. And for The Last Kingdom Two very good shows out of England.

ok, lets disect this. and disregard that i dont know how to spell disect, or dissect.

Alex wasnt too hot in 1923 but i saw her in an interview recently, has real short hair and looked great. i think the time piece and them making her look like she was from the 1920s didnt do her justice. good looking, not great but hot enough..

Yeah, Jack Dutton's wife is ridiculously hot. and she's hotter in Landman but they kind of make her out as a ditzy teenager so you still think she's super hot but you dont want to admit it cause her character is in high school. but fear not, she's 27 so any impure thoughts you may have of her, well they are legal.

Great call on peaky blinders, loved it but damned if that thick accent doesnt frustrate you. to quote another great movie, ironically enough from a Guy ritchie production. " I Thought This Country Spawned The F'in Language, And So Far Nobody Seems To Speak It."

I don't read a movie. I watch a movie. And if these British actors have such thick accents that they can't be understood, I don't watch.

Sorry, I can't comment on any of the above movies, series, whatever they are. I'm hooked on Paradise and I think that's one of the best shows around. And you don't have to put up with the incessant British accents.

advice, dont watch any Guy Ritchie movie ever then.

i find it annoying but i'll still watch. peaky blinders was probably the most frustrating, i got about 1/3rd of every word they said.

Thanks for that advice. I want to watch some of them but it gets annoying only catching 1 out of every 3 words they say, like you said. I have a British heritage and wanted to travel to England and Ireland just to find out more about where my family was. But I may not catch everything they say.

Can't live without my Closed Captioning now. Got addicted to it during Game of Thrones.

Mobland is great.

Paradise is awesome. The end of episode 1 is jaw dropping.

This should be an OT on the football board not this political board. Almost missed it lol.

PS check out Black Mirror new episodes on Netflix. The first 2 were great.

1923 was incredible. So much so that I restarted it with my 28 years old daughter last night. Once she got 1.75 episodes into season one, she was hooked. But we had to put the captions on immediately. Not because the characters are hard to understand…there are English and Irish characters…but the accents aren’t that thick. It’s just how we watch shows anymore.

I may start that back up. Got 10 min into it and quit.

I did that with The Pitt, The Wire and Peaky Blinders...went back and loved all 3

I can’t get into Yellowstone. Since 1923, I’ve gone and binged 1883. It was blah but at least it gave me some backstory. Then I started Yellowstone and made it 3 episodes in and while it’s not bad, I still can’t get hooked.

I quit Yellowstone after a few seasons. I liked 1883, but a similar series to that is American Primeval on Netflix which was excellent. Check it out.

I stayed with 1883 just because I wanted to see how it ended. But I wasn’t crazy about it. I got a few episodes into American Primeval and yes I see the similarities, but I bailed on it. Those two series, especially the latter, are a reminder that humans are barbarians and animals.

1923 isn’t without faults. There are two storylines within that I’m not crazy about. Both graphic. One is about an Indian girl who probably is an ancestor to the Indian antagonist in Yellowstone. And then the other is with the Timothy Dalton character who is a really bad guy. But for whatever reason Taylor Sheridan wants us to know that he’s a really, really bad guy by making him a sexual masochist who tortures prostitutes for gratification. We already knew he was a bad guy. We don’t need to see all the extra curricular stuff.

But Harrison Ford is good. Helen Mirran is fantastic. Brandon Sklenar and Julia Schlaepfer are incredible in their breakout roles, and Jerome Flynn (Bronn) from Game Of Thrones is really good. Lots of Emmy worthy performances.

If you get 2 episodes into it, you probably won’t stop and will have the whole thing done by the weekend.

I like Harrison Ford in Shrinking and Helen Mirren in Mobland so I will likely watch it.

A bit disappointed in the lack of a Severance thread here. We are slipping.

Severance is really good. I miss it so much.
Very much looking forward to Murderbot Diaries and season 3 of Clarkson's Farm.
