Mods....jimrindy needs to go

Why even allow any of them to post on the Pitt board? I am sure if a Pitt fan wanted to post on the PSU board we would not be able to.

BTW
I just read on PSN that Dorin Dickerson will provide coverage once camp starts. Might be a place for Panther fans to talk without trolls.

Mod can't monitor every minute and the enemy has minions seemingly on duty to spread propaganda. At the same time the guy in charge here wants a real job in Pittsburgh sports media and that requires kissing the tail of Jerry Micco, the Nit who, based on its content, still rules the PG sports department. And the radio commentators who are 99% in bed with the Nits. Thus he focuses more on squashing the retorts of Pitt fans rather than preventing the Nit trolls... As the media itself does.

Sadly, this is true. I believe it is counterproductive, but there are only so many openings in Pittsburgh.

He looks like a very inspiring person to work for

Listen, Pitt mostly deserves criticism it gets. Pitt athletics are abysmally run. But the levels of bias and hypocrisy are outrageous well beyond the point of merely reporting the negative. Pitt also still has far more alums than the enemy schools (no matter the propaganda) so those numbers suggest you'd see more balance, if not outright bias in Pitts direction. Look how disgustingly bad the pirates are ... much worse than Pitt, given what advantages ml baseball teams get vs college sports teams (compensated for payroll discrepancies, high draft choices when they suck) yet they got astonishingly positive coverage in the media. Other than two seasons, the Pirate's basically have been dead last or close to it for the last 25 years...TWENTY FIVE. And It's totally been on purpose too. Yet they get every benefit of the doubt. Just today, 5 more pages of overwhelmingly positive coverage even though they lost as usual and have zero hope.

Yet the only mention of Pitt sports is, of course, a negative article about, you guess it, attendance.

It's a one horse town however... one paper and one sports station. So if Nits stack the media deck as they've done, you get what you get.

Unless you win, frankly. As in championships. Then the people will love you so the media has to swallow its bile and kiss your tail. Ron Cook and this new generation of PSU grads that twit and tweet pro-pedophile propaganda would have to tea bag Pitt fans at last. It's not one of the biggest reasons that Pitt should throw in behind winning but dang, it would be the most satisfying one.

It is the Old Adage, a Member of the Family can Criticize, Comments and Cause some problems for discussing Family Matters and it may cause Rifts and Fits among Loved Ones and Cousins, but when Stranger comes on and does it, Always Blood Thicker Than Water.

It is OK for Pitt Posters to criticize Pitt. Pitt Posters can argue back and forth, but by the end of day or next Game it still is Pitt is It! Anyone else, from another Program chooses to enter such discussions, have limits, because they Hate Pitt, and that is the difference.

When going on WVU Boards one can defend Pitt without disrespecting the Mountaineers and that means tolerating some WVU Posters that just insult saying nothing. But other WVU Posters will make reasonable comments in the discussions, so long as you ignore not attacking back on Mountaineers, in kind.

When a Mounty then decides he will come on Lair and post Pitt Trash Talk, "Well not here on the Lair, Dear, is that Clear Dear! This is when and where Pitt Lair Posters respond in kind by just telling the Truth as we see it on WVU.

Same with Penn State Troll Posters that come under New Names over and over, and Tell Lies about Pitt and Pitt Posters showing the truth about Penn State, and now not just Pitt, but entire Big Ten and National Rivals knows all about them. One can see it in all comments on CBS, Fox, Scout, NBC, and ESPN Boards as well now.

Only the Best & Brightest Penn State Posters Post on the Lair with full reasonable and respectful discussions same with Michigan, OSU, MSU, and some others because they can't post on BWI or they get Banned.

PSU Trolls are also that Coach's Legacy of Ashes that used to attempt to trash other Programs and Coaches off the Record Wink-Wink Comments then blame the Media, but now just his Legacy came back on him and he did it to himself, and PSU Trolls can't Rehab it anymore than themselves.

Accept his Foresight of Great Coaching and Building a Program, but do so in understanding his own Sins of Silence without Athletic integrity. As well as, his own Words admitted it, near his end of days, and even the Family acknowledged it, in their own words and writings.

The World Knows That Is Full Truth And 3 Investigations Findings Prove It with Facts & Fines and not one Person, Counter-Investigators Paid for Hire, Legal Discovery, and Defense Attorneys were ever able to refute it, that is the Pain and Legacy of PSU Trolls as well!

The free board has always been a place where rival fans can come and interact with Pitt fans. We delete and ban a lot of them when they get out of hand, but for the most part, I've tended to think the Pitt fans enjoy bantering with rivals.

That's the difference between the free board and the premium board: there are no rival fans on the premium board. Just Pitt fans. That's why it has been and will continue to be the best place to talk Pitt sports online.

Are you referring to me? That's pretty amusing.

I've been with this site for more than 10 years. I enjoy it quite a bit and I'm not sure I would give it up for an opportunity at a "real job in Pittsburgh sports media."

We delete and ban plenty of rival fans who get out of hand on the free board.

Perhaps the funniest part about this theory is the idea that I believe the moderation of this board will influence my potential employment opportunities.

"Hi, sports editor? Chris Peak here. Listen, I know you have a Pitt beat writer in place, but here me out: I've been letting a lot of Penn State fans post on my free message board. So what do you say? Got an opening for me?"

I knew it, I knew it......your bannings of me were merely attempts to get to the top.

I have no problem with peak. I love his podcasts and radio bits and this site has always been fun in my eyes. I don't like banning, so I probably woke up crabby and the first thing I saw was this clown making no attempt to engage in meaningful discussion. And then going after paco, whom I consider to be one of the best posters here, set me off. Sorry for any headache

jimrindy has had quite a few names on this board. It's easy to spot when he starts a new name, because each of his posts are barely literate. One or two word posts that may mean something to him, but are next to impossible for anyone else to decipher.

I think of Rupert, the character Steve Martin played in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, who had a cork on the end of his dinner fork, when I see one of his posts.

I've deserved some posts removed.

Most others are clean and factual however, but point out inconvenient truths about Nits. (Only after they troll first and continually though...i never post about them unilaterally).

Invariably i'll return to see my posts ... again almost always perfectly clean and 100% factual ... gone, and the troll still there. For some reason PSU trolls usually get free reign.

That suggests some degree of double standard, for whatever reason. If it's not you looking to curry favor (which quite honestly would at least make financial sense), I suppose then you want to see hit counts and they at least spur that kind of action. My posts are often the skull crushing variety that would send them yelping away. I definitely go right for the jugular. Not good for business I suppose. That also would at least make sense.

Hopefully it isn't because you don't see how reprehensible they are (or Heaven forbid support them), because that would be an exponential degree of creepy.

I don't have specific examples of your posts being deleted (I know they have been deleted but I don't recall specifically which ones or the threads they were in). Sometimes if a thread goes off the rails, I'll just take down the whole thing. Other times, we'll be a bit more precise and try to remove the post where things went wrong. Maybe that's a post by a Pitt fan, maybe it's a post by a Penn State fan.

If you honestly think PSU fans are treated more fairly on this board than Pitt fans are, then I think you're seeing controversy where there is none. It's simply not the policy. We allow the rival fans to post here, but the leash is short - far shorter than it is for Pitt fans.

Ok. I respect that answer and appreciate the discourse.

Chris, in all honesty, if a Pitt fan is acting like a jackass and baiting Nitters then yes, I agree with you. But when the Nitters start it or escalate or do what they always love to do is backhand compliment a Pitt thread started by Pitt fans, no Pitt's fan post should EVER be removed while a Nitter troll's remains. EVER. If so, you might as well start singing the Penn State fight song.

Bantering with Penn State fans is a God given right!

I can only speak for myself and for other people from PSU but I would never come here just to cause everyone to get mad. I appreciate that we are allowed to have that here because we we are in the same state and many of us have family and friends that are one or the other when it comes to allegiance.

I love Pittsburgh. I don't even actually believe that some of the people you think are Penn State trolls are though. Some are blatantly making up being Penn State fans.

Guys like Pitt-Chains didn't go to free PSU board for a conversation. It was to incite.

Here's my two cents...

There are VERY FEW places where a Pitt fan can discuss Pitt athletics on line without being subjected to back handed compliments and delusional talking points from the cult.

Even in the local rags and national websites, whenever Pitt is mentioned, there they are spreading their disease like an old whore with syphilis at a Moose Lodge convention.

The local media is full of these idiots on social media spreading their gospel of poison and taking shots at Pitt; Chris Adumbski, Adam Bittner, Jerry Micco, Scott Brown, Kevin Gorman, and the list goes on and on...

Having said all that, do we really need to surrender one of the few outlets for Pitt fans to engage in positive conversation?

During the dark days when the nitters were told the truth about their hero, they didn't allow one word to be spoken outside the cult whether it was the truth or not. They banned together (media, fans, students, alumni, etc) to spin the truth and shout down and ban those who dare to defend the victims.

Is McAndrews open to free speech and discussion? No.

I say give these morons a VERY SHORT leash. Kick them out on the first jackass remark they make on this board...

I have spoken...

Is this Pitt or Cal Berkeley? The more they speak the more foolish they look. What is the harm when you have truth, logic and history on your side? Those that do not have these attributes on their side have no argument and must shut down the other side. What the hell can a Penn State knucklehead have in his arsenal that cannot easily be shot down here?

Don't need posters (with 1 or 2 post) coming over with no intent to engage in legitimate discussions but want only to mock.

Have no problem with other team posters who engage in constructive dialogue.

BWI board does not tolerate Pitt posters.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

simple.... "F" psu ! all day everyday!

This is the truth.

You can't outright prevent them from creating new handles every day though, I guess.

Ignoring is best until the mods can catch up. Hard for even me to follow that at times ... they're just so ... deserving ... of savage reprisal. But ultimately paying attention is the worst thing to do.

But the "legit" media is a different story. It's frustrating to have no way to rebut (funny word to use when talking PSU). Yeah we can personally refuse to listen or read, but it infects the masses. Hell, most here are convinced "attendance" is some huge thing when in reality its becoming less and less important... millennials want a digital experience and oldies are increasingly going to be reducing their attendance due to physical limitations. The revolution will be televised (more accurately, streamed).

Yet thanks to local media pimping PSU (and ripping Pitt) for attendance (because they gotta jerk themselves off for SOMETHING), umpteen posts and threads get open by our own fans, despairing over the "attendance problem".

Wake up people. It's really fake news. Local sports media are mostly aholes with an insidious agenda. But they have the power of propaganda. Hard to avoid if you want regular news. You wanna open the paper just To see an article on camp or recruits or such and there's Ron Cook hideous cultist face drooling over PSU. Frustrating.

Really the only way to combat is if Pitt becomes a powerhouse again and it forces media to cater to us to keep our new bandwagon fans happy... as with the Steelers and Pens.

I appreciate your comments. A few responses:

- We're not surrendering anything. This board has always been a place where Pitt fans can congregate and talk sports and also interact with rivals fans who want to venture over here. Truth be told, I've always kind of had an expectation that this board could and would defend itself if a rival fan got out of line.

- That's the big difference between this board and the premium board: there are no rival fans on the premium board. There, it's all Pitt fans.

- People often reference the board policies on other sites, but my thought is this: I've heard from countless fans who got banned from other boards for - by their telling - no real offenses. As such, I've tried to not have the same policy here.

- Like I said, there is a short leash for rival fans. And lots of them come to the end of that leash every day.

Chris - As long as they have a short lease, I have no problem on how you run the free board. I will continue to report when I think a poster is a troll. How you deal with them after that is up to you. Being that you are an alum, I trust your judgement.

It gets frustrating trying to point out the positive things going on at Pitt when you have those slimbags in the media and on social media spewing their adolescent nonsense like bad gas at a cheap Mexican restaurant...

Thanks....

I for one like Chris's approach. If there is a true troll, just report them. Chris also monitors. But you are not going to have a "clean" board unless you join the premium board. And that's how it should be IMO.
