Because Peak allows reasonable conversation and discourse while McAndrew is the insular de facto cult leader who allows no outsiders - particularly Pitt fans.

Yeah, I have always viewed the free board as a place where Pitt fans can talk with each other - and "interact" with fans of other teams. We gave a fair amount of latitude to all posters on this board, although fans of other teams don't have quite as long a leash.

I was banned over there for ten years but I can post now, not sure why. They seem to have loosened the restrictions somewhat. I'm decent and try to be respectful on their board but still generally get the "Pitt sucks, go away" response. I get better conversation from my 2 year old. PSU fans get far better treatment here, that is for sure.

When Rivals went to the new boards months ago, everyone who was banned on every board seemed to get a reprieve. I was banned on the UPS board also and like you, now have the opportunity to post there, but I have no desire to go there.

I don't anymore either. I like friendly banter between rivals but it's like talking to a wall over there. Going over to the WVU board during the Big East days was far more interesting and productive.

Chris, a good idea would be to open a thread on this subject and let people post without fear of being banned. What do you think? You would need to monitor it a bit closely but I think it would be a great idea. A lot of banned people would have to be allowed to post or told how to temporarily get around the ban.

The problem with the typical psu fan is when they go all paterno sycophant. they play the puff the chest card and then get overly defensive when reminded of their moral standing. this weekend was a perfect example. big win and Jimmy franks starts talking about healing.

I think a lot of folks from PA grew up following both teams.

I disagree. I'd say that by the time someone is in high school, the brain washing has worked one way or the other. It's been my experience that there are very few people who "root for both" or the completely bs answer "I just root for the team doing better". No way.

Now, I'm in my 40s. Perhaps my experience is tinted by the fact that in my youth Pitt and Penn State played regularly and there just wasn't room to follow both teams. You HAD to pick sides and sometimes FIGHT for your side on the playground. I'm willing to accept the idea that a younger generation who didn't have the game every year might look at things differently.

I think it depends on what you mean by "follow". I have followed and rooted for Pitt since I was six years old. I "follow" PSU every week and wish with all my heart they get their asses beat by anybody and everybody. If they schedule a home and home with ISIS University I make my wife wear a burka for their game or get the hell out of the house. So, yeah, I guess I "follow" both teams.
