PITT WORKING HARDEST FOR MOUSTAPHA DIAGNE

Pittsburgh coach Jamie Dixon and assistants from Seton Hall and UConn were at Sparta (N.J.) Pope John XXIII this week for several of their young players, including sophomores Louis King and Atiba Taylor. They are also recruiting former Pope John power forward Moustapha Diagne, the former Syracuse signee now at Northwest Florida State. Diagne is in the Class of 2017 now.

"Jamie Dixon is recruiting him the hardest of any team," Pope John coach Jason Hasson said. "He is recruiting him even harder than Syracuse did in high school. Cincinnati has been down to see him twice and has been in constant communication as well. Also the assistant coach from Florida was at his game last weekend to see him. Seton Hall has recently gotten involved and coach [Shaheen] Holloway is recruiting both him and Jeromy Rodriguez now. He's still early in the process and has no favorite or lea der. Just trying to sort through it and make the best decision."

Im about to choke. Pitt is said to be recruiting someone the hardest? I never thought I would hear those words.

6'9" 240 PF. Think Talib Zanna. No wonder Dixon is recruiting him so hard. Come 2017, the entire starting lineup we have now will all be gone, as well as Jeter, Jones and ANO.

Dixon always recruits hard.
He's pretty well established as a tenacious recruiter.
He also gets early no's to not waste his time on lost causes.
Tru dat!

There have been a few people misguidedly criticizing Dixon as a lazy recruiter who didn't try to recruit anyone outside Western Pa.

They couldn't be more wrong. His recruiting has not been particularly successful, but it has been energetic and dogged when he really wants someone. Perhaps too much so on a couple targets. His time might have been better spent turning our back on Diallo, Heron and Rowan earlier and targeting alternative guys a little sooner. But had he done that some people would have REALLY b*tched.

Yeah, I have always thought of Dixon as someone who recruits with intensity. He is just not consistently effective.

I get sense he is to honest and not willing to play the game enough (?). Effort is not an issue.
