Must read article about PSU.

She writes for the Huffington Post, and she isn't a fan of the "rape/football first/Duggar just lay down and take the D and make babies" first culture? Clearly a lesbian, clearly a a progressive, clearly worthy of dismissal by the fanbase

Did I misread something? I thought the writer's name was David.

Holy CRAP!! Wow. I mean there are so many levels in that article, most obviously we will agree with. The fact that this is a national website and they eviscerate Ron Cook for his column is just a wonderful sidebar.

But man. I mean aside from the we really don't know who is a good guy underlying tone in our rooting interests, yeah football has a Penn State problem. There is no more example than this than college football and it is P5 conference teams and especially its "blue blood" teams. Even Duke basketball, 20 years ago when they were winning Championships you could at least look at them as college students, who are taking Duke level courses and graduating versus now, the rent a hire kids who really only need to stay eligible for ONE semester.

But it comes down to this, there are alot of warts in sports because sports is played by humans and humans have alot of imperfections, and also sports is big money and big money leads to more big money and more big money leads to greed which corrupts. We want to compartmentalize this and look beyond these things for wins. And that is fine.

But as the article explains, there is a special kind of crazy that not only overlooks but the blind devotion and worshipping of a coach that is normally reserved for religious icons.

And they dont see it this way.

What I liked especially about this particular one was the fact that he called out Ron Cook specifically. And deservedly.

Yes, and it helps puts to rest this continual myth that it is a minority of fans in alumni that are batshit crazy and completely revolting. It certainly is not a minority.

People should print it out and hand it out at their tailgates, especially to those that might really need it.

My favorite part: "Yes, it’s the thoughts of the “Paterno haters” that sickens Mr. Cook out of all that. Here’s what sickens me: that the Post-Gazette is paying someone to shed crocodile tears over a carcass that’s accountable for children having their innocence robbed, and that his opinion isn’t an aberration in central Pennsylvania. I don’t respect your opinion, Mr. Cook, because your ability to respect multiple people’s accounts of negligence is limited by how well their accounts align with your projection of someone you had come to believe was a saint-like figure. That’s what’s disturbing about that 91% figure. It doesn’t represent that 91% of Penn State alumni are evil sociopaths who don’t care about children being raped; it represents that, like with Mr. Cook, there’s a limit to how much they care about children being raped, and that that limit is whether or not a particular allegation will prevent Joe Paterno from looking like King Arthur."

Add in Wall Street Journal Link All Football Programs:
2016 WSJ College Football Grid of Shame
As the season begins in earnest, we rate how good the country’s top college football programs are—and how embarrassed their fans should be

1. Penn State

Regardless of what Penn State supporters would like to think, their school’s football program has an ick factor that isn’t going away any time soon. That’s what happens when you attempt to defend the reputation of a guy who definitely knew what Sandusky was up to and tried to cover it up. Joe Paterno was a creep. Sorry.

Big Ten Article Link On Grid Of Shame:
As the Wall Street Journal put it, “college football is often as much about scandal as what happens on the scoreboard.”

So as the 2016 season is set to kick off, the WSJ published a college football “Grid of Shame.” The WSJ ranked all teams from major conferences on two criteria: “How good are they? And how ashamed should fans be about rooting for them?”

Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa and Nebraska all fell in the top right quadrant of the grid – close to being both a powerhouse and an admirable program.

Penn State fell the lowest of any Big Ten teams on the “embarrassing” scale, and the Nittany Lions were also closer to being considered a “weakling” than a “powerhouse.” Rutgers was the only other Big Ten team to land closer to “embarrassing” than “admirable.”

You are a narrow minded jerk! Joe Paterno followed protocol and gave information about Jerry Sandusky to the Board! They did the cover up. Joe Paterno did his job. Joe was a kind hearted coach who did a great job as a coach because he cared a out each one as a person. He was a good man. All the bull from people like is why he is no longer with us!! You all look broke his spirit and him as a man!! Shame on all of you who made him the scapegoat because we know there always has to be one!! Everyone just picked him. So sad

Can the NCAA give the death penalty to a school merely because their fan base is completely deranged?

lol

It'a comical reading BWI on this story and how quickly it was dismissed there (the only place in America by the way sharing this sentiment). They have chosen to believe a few conspiracy nuts many of which have fabricated "facts". Even more interesting are the threads hopeful Sandusky gets a retrial and off on what they think are technicalities. Also fits just in line with the sick thoughts of the fan base blasting the child victims of Sandusky and by extension Penn State. They also have railed on alumni and students who merely have a different opinion than to support child molesters for the sake of football. It really is sad. Not just for the state but mankind as a whole.

Ben Roethlisberger? He's never been proven to be a rapist, more likely he was a VICTIM of a gold digging slut, who was DTF! And yeah, I can EASLIY celebrate a championship if one on the players was a rapist, especially today, where they've watered down the definition of rape to allow women to have consensual sex then cry rape after the fact, after they voluntarily had sex.

This article gives all of you what you want to hear. The guy is a alum, and has an obvious axe to grind. I am sure maybe a football player stole his girlfriend during his time in State College, because an obvious smear piece. But it is like anything else, when you say the same lies over and over again, they tend to become believed.

One thing i also have to commend, with the last 5 years, following the Sandusky trial and all of the fallout in the media, I do have to give the Pittsburgh media the most credit. The national media, even local media and Philly media have just been fervent in their desire to be judge, jury and executioner, not caring about the truth, just wanting to sell newspapers and get ratings.

But the Pittsburgh media seem respectful of the situation, never wanting to overreact, not wanting to come to a conclusion until all evidence is presented. It says alot for your city and the quality of journalism and not that tablet sensationalist crap looking to make a profit over trying to get to the real truth.

It says a lot for you that you defend the horrible Paterno. It says you're a complete moron who hates children.

The real truth is already exposed. The Paterno Cult of Personality conspiracy narratives are what's left for those desperately clinging to their alternative reality.

Has more to do with some PSU alumni in editorial positions more than anything related to the truth/reality of the situation. The coverage was really lacking locally given the child sex abuse happened in-state.

Or maybe he is proud of his school and wants the school to better itself unlike people like you who doesn't care what happens as long as there is PoSU football.

I just threw up.

So I see you like incompetence, bias, sexual perversion and illiteracy. That's what the Pittsburgh media is, for the most part. The rest of the country knows the facts, and those facts all point to Paterno being a low life piece of shit. He was that in spades and demonstrated it repeatedly for decades, and not just with this one heinous crime he committed. If you believe otherwise, you are the same and deserve the same fate as Paterno where he is now burning in hell.

Good to see the rest of the country has some innate intelligence, decency and morals as opposed to the total lack of it up in creepy valley.

The article states the truth and the facts. Including the fact that Ron Cook's opinion on anything can't be respected and should be dismissed.

In response to Pitt fans enjoying the Huffington Post article, Cook writes a story about the worse loss in Pitt history... You guessed it, the 1981 game 48-14

I didn't link it because he doesn't deserve the activity. However, the comments are good. Someone even linked the Huffington article in their comments.

He's a piece of $hit...

But at least he is writing about the game and its grand history and not rehashing things that should be on CourtTV and not college football.

Dude, grow up. You are a troll. You're here to stir up crap. People like you need some serious help. Get a grip and a life.

I actually haven't seen too many people if anyone say Paterno didn't do what was legally required. And even if I'm incorrect lets just say he did for the sake of argument.

Sometimes that's just not enough. With the power and influence he wielded if you think MORALLY he did all he could you are insane.
