matt Canada's sorry excuse for an offense Saturday very long...was not impressed by the preparation or play calling..maybe playing it close to the vest for PSU but they looked pathetic at times...3 three and outs in a row against Nova?...unacceptable....and Petersons infamous OL?.. Really?...sorry folks don't see us beating many teams this year if this offense doesn't step up big time.

My biggest concern is that Peterman doesn't seem to possess the skill set needed to bring us back from a 7-10 point deficit with 8 minutes to play. He reminds me an awful lot of Sunseri, who was decent but not the guy to lead and take you to the next level. We need to over recruit that position and quickly.

Except lowa though right? And obviously you're not counting coming back down multiple scores vs North Carolina. And those come back wins vs Syracuse/Georgia tech probably too.

wait till next year, were going to have A LOT more ups and downs with the QB position.

canada did not have his offense prepared yesterday. did we have one offensive play over 20 yards?

"Playcalling"
I don't think they have a play called "Get manhandled up front."
If they do, it was called nearly every play.

Duzzi acted unconcerned in his presser--except about the headphones. You can bet it was because he ordered Canada to serve up plain vanilla!

Didn't you hear.... TMAC is the second coming of cam
Newton?

I think you both raise good points here. Obviously Peterman does have some ability, and I would take him all day every day over Sunseri. However, Peterman was very much Sunseri like in his time at Tennessee. He was trainwreck and an accident waiting to happen. Chaney did a great salvage job with Nate. I think it will be interesting to see how Nate does this year now that Chaney is out of the picture again.

The stadium loudspeakers were off yesterday as well. Music played over the announcer. And now your pitt dance team. Check that...

I'm guessing Duzzi was pretty much on board with the vanilla nature of the play calling and the obvious attempt to get the OL as much work in the run game as possible. If the play calling is the same against those buttholes from the East next week then I'll be with you.

When 6 are blocking 8 or 9 it becomes "manhandling" and that was a big part of it. By the middle of the second quarter Pitt started throwing off of play action and opened it up enough to win. Bet your ass if the Peds try to stack the box you will see a different attack.

It's only a comeback if you win.

And the fact that we had to come from behind late to beat a team like Cuse or GT is an indictment of our offense in and of itself.

This was a 1-AA team with inferior size, talent and no depth stacking the box, and we are supposed to have one of the best and deepest O lines in Power 5 football, so the fact that Nova stacked the box shouldn't have caused us so much trouble running the ball all game long.m. We should have been able to wear them down and muscle the inside power run game.

I watched some of the first quarter of the Michigan Hawaii game yesterday. Hawaii was stacking the box and doing a pretty good job of stuffing the power run game. Michigan switched gears a bit and began to attack the softer perimeter with the outside runs, screen passes, plays to get their superior speed athletes to the edge. Next thing you know it's 35-0 in about 15 minutes of game clock. After a couple of possessions of Michigan working the perimeter and scoring, Hawaii backed out of the box and Michigan was able to pound the ball inside at will.

I didn't see anything like that out of us yesterday and Michigan's O line isn't as vaunted as ours. Hawaii is also a D-1 team, albeit a weak one. What I did see was an O line that did not look sharp or physical. This wasn't even a D1 opponent after all.

GP call me please. Thanks

This vanilla play-calling thing needs to stop. I don't care what play you call, your offensive line that's supposed to be one of the best in the conference and have 3 or 4 future pros should not get torn up by Villanova's defensive line. The backs had nowhere to run. The pass pro was bad too. For me, there is no sugarcoating the offenses performance yesterday. There were a few bright spots individually but as a whole it was really bad.
